Fear the Kitten!

A few months ago, my brother's family in Rhode Island took in a cat that had appeared outside their house. She immediately went into heat, got out, and came back. A little over a week ago, one of the results of these events came to live with me.

Meet Maeve (or Medb, to use the Irish spelling):



I was a little worried about whther my cat Luna would get along with the kitten, but things worked out fine. Maeve arrived Thrusday night, and they were playing together by Saturday morning. Luna does get annoyed at Maeve from time to time, but mostly, they get along just fine.



There's only one problem- Maeve is the most savage creture I have ever encountered. She's friendly and affectionate, but she also enjoys ferociously attacking anything that moves, or doesn't. Sometimes, she launch herself at me, grab on with her claws, and sink her teeth in. She does the same thing to Luna, too... And it's very difficult to get any sleep with Maeve in the apartment... She's also figured out how to get into the fold-out couch, and when I'm sititng on the couch, she'll suddenly attack me from out of the cushions. Unfortunately, she's completely fearless...

She's at that age when she's a fierce hunter and everything is prey.

Sometimes they never quite grow out of it, but at least they can be taught that YOU are not prey.  Nor is your sofa, or the drapes, or the cabinet.

That chair in the livingroom still deserves to die though.  ;)

No kidding!  I once had a kitten that never got over attacking my hand...it was my own fault though because I raised him and would play fight pretending my hand was attacking.  It was great fun for until he figured how to sneak up on me after I had long grown out of the game.
