MACH 3

Hey guys,

I was just reading some of the posts on the Incredible Hulk thread in this group, and I'm realizing that I can do ALOT of stuff with FFX 3.2. I have a great character who I think would be awesome to playout in FFvT3R, but I have no idea how to create his unique powers. There are sooo many variables I'd never thought would be possible, I'm completely lost. Here's my concept:

I've got a character, who within him, lives five different beings, each a representative of the Five Rings of Miyamoto Mushashi. There's Daichi, who represents ground, a giant, brawling, individual, with hulk-like characteristics.[I was thinking of BillDamn's Thanos_Gren_Basic_Bootcuffs as a mesh.] Munashii, who respresents the void, a female mentalist-type who weilds the powers of darkness. [maybe using a mesh for DC's Raven.] Kaze, representing the wind, which is a male-speedster-type. [Thinking a Male_Basic Mesh] Hi, which means fire, a ninja, with great martial prowess.[Trying to find a ninja mesh that uses the  RED_SUN kf's.] And Mizu, a woman who possesses the ability to control water/ice. And they are all trapped inside the body of a 14 Year-old. [I saw some meshes on fxforce that I may try to skin.]

Any ideas for attributes/powers would be helpful.....PM me if you want to send me your thoughts.

A mesh that uses Red Sun's keys? I don't think any mesh besides Ren Sun uses those. HOWEVER, there may be a way to get them too... I'm unsure about how it is done, but I think people have experimented with it. On the other hand, tommyboy had a great ninja mesh at his site.

For Munashii... you might want to check out this hero of mine, and combine her with Mentor. She's got some life draining powers and crazy stuff. It's pretty neat to play.
Speedsters have different takes by different people. I tend to make mine all about high damage, and being... well really fast. I mean really fast. FFX has this speed force thing now, it's nuts!
The strong guy... you could try giving him some earth control. Maybe something like defense mechanism. I like to try and change my "strong guy" characters up though, and make them unique. For example, I have one with a touch that turns people to gold statues, and one with a purely magic damage, penetrating beam. Plus I give them one or two big weaknesses to make up for the rest.

Ahh... I really like to make hero files, but it usually takes me a while since I have to play test them against each other a lot before I am satisfied. I'd say just fool around with stuff, and make sure to keep the FFX Manual handy, because it's a very valuable resource.

...as for having them all in the kid, only to come out one at a time... I have no idea how to do that!

Thanks Unko-Man, I thought I had stomped the group. I was reading in the manual the you can assign up to six temporary forms to a character with the Shapeshifter attribute, but this thing is way complexed and is going to take a while....

UnkoMan

Oh, you CAN have six different forms? I didn't know.

Shapeshifter really isn't that hard to set up. Just make your characters like normal, and make sure the main character has the shapeshifter attribute. Then all the other guys get temporary form. Then you just go into FFX Control Centre and assign them all to that character. That's pretty much it.

Do they need to be sent to the .dat in ver 3.x, to make it easier, like with the old one, or will it pull them directly from .hero files now with no problem?

Yeah, I'd like to know how to do that, too. Is there a tutorial somewhere? I have a shape-shifter (basically a Plastic Man rip off) I found a beautiful mesh for (Plastic Man Buff, although it really needs to be skinnier), and was trying to give the character some other shapes (gorilla, horse, dog, Superman, Dirty Harry), and while I can do the "Danger Room-Quick and Easy" version, I can't get it to "take".  I've pulled up Doc Sensation and looked at him and his other forms, but can't see how to tie the temporary forms to the original.

All versions of FFX came with a manual, which should answer most questions.  The best place to ask specific questions about FFX that aren't clear enough is in the Mods section (if we don't get a quick answer here).  The only reason I asked, was because I don't have the version for  :ffvstr:, and wanted to just clarify for the thread's originator, in case there was an extra step required.

In the version for  :ff:, it came with a copy of Alex's EZHero utility, which had a "Send To DAT" button, that would put the hero file into all of the appropriate places in the game's .dat files, automatically.  I found that it still required a little tweaking from time to time, so checking it afterward with FFEdit was a good idea.

I used the button to send the files to the .dat files, and everything seems to work now.  The temporary forms showed up in the drop-down menu, I assigned them to the shapeshifter, ran him through the danger room to see how he worked. Everything seems fine.

Thanks!

Well, everything did look okay. I now have double entries of the secondary forms, with the duplicate forms costing different points.

Then I tried Negative Man as Larry Trainor's Inner Being, and it worked fine; no duplicate entries, he splits in two... too bad Larry won't collapse in a heap, but we can't have everything... yet.

Did you use the Inner Being attribute for NM?  I think that may behave differently (not sure, haven't played with).  Once you send the character to the .dat, unless you plan on tweaking some more, there's no need to keep the Temporary Form hero files in the main folder, as they'll just take up space on the list (and possibly show up at the same time as the "built-in" version).  I made a couple of sub-folders for hero files I'm not normally using (like experiments I've tried, or for some of the Team League stuff that we did in the past, as well as ones I've made to be Temporary Forms or Summonables), and just move them into there, to get them off of the list.

That is what I did. I have someting like that sarted already-so I'll move the hero files on the temp characters ino their own folder.

Thanks!
