... my agency lost a big account and let me go.   (My salary was approx. this client's monthly retainer.  What a coincidence, huh? )

So if you don't see me, it's because I'm doing the crazy scramble to find new work or new freelance copywriting opportunities.    (Can't believe that Cobra health insurance is over $1,000 a month for just two people!)

I had so looked forward to more team-ups, especially after the way so many of you helped the Fantastic Torch get to fifty ... my first fifty ever on the Freedom server.   That felt so great.

Even though I still have my evenings free, I haven't had much heart to play ...  (And man, was I looking forward to double experience weekend.  I was hoping to get my level 38 tank at least well into the 40s, and on to P. Island.)

If you do see me online, give a shout out or an invite ...

Hopefully, as I get over the initial shock of all this, I'll be fit to be around humans (mutants, robots, and other assorted superheroes and villians) again.  :D

Take care and as some dealing with my own set backs (I'm filling out the paper work for the divorce she wants tomorrow) let me just say don't ignore the positive effects of having friends to conect with, no matter what form that takes...

never under estimate the power of "anymous" friends, the power of a good distraction, or the power of fighting evil, even if on a fantasy level for a good escape when life can suck.

best wishes to you!

Ditto.  Sorry to hear the bad news, and good luck finding a new job.

Dire, sorry to hear about the divorce.    Been through that myself over two decades ago, and can tell you from experience that no matter how painful it feels right now, love does comes along again.   And my "new" marriage has lasted over 25 years.   :D

Whether they be in love, marriage or employment, all setbacks are temporary.

And thank you, everyone, for the support.   It's appreciated.

I feel for you, dude.  I went through my own stretch of unemployment several months ago.

Like several people have said already, don't forget that you have friends.  Sometimes the positive feeling of just connecting with other people helps keep you going.  So if you have an evening free, go ahead and log on - even if just for a little while.  You'll be more than welcome.

BlueBard

Sorry to hear about the job... I'll send up some prayers for you.  (And you too, DW).

Ad/Media Agencies seem to have a revolving door in their HR departments as people come and go all the time.  I'm sure something will come up soon.

Meanwhile, you might as well get started on writing a novel or something. :)  Patrick McManus got his start as a humorist during an out-of-work phase, had a regular column in Outdoor Life, and has published a dozen books.  One door closed and a better one opened through hard work and perseverance.  Hope that's encouraging.

AncientSpirit

I really do believe that when one door closes another one opens.  The last time this happened (as it eventually always does when you work in advertising/marketing agencies) I spent two full years freelancing out of my Viriginia home -- but they were the happiest two years of my life!  Lunches out wtih my wife everyday.  No rush hour traffic.   Even got to watch daytime TV whenever it pleased me, and do my work at night.

I just need to look past the hard part of building up a clientile again ... and remember the payoff.

Although, don't you wish that RL had one of those in-game channels where you get to broadcast, "Award-winning (kind of work you do) - level 50 - looking for (whatever it is you're looking for!)"

Much better than using a headhunter, IMHO.  :D

Sorry to hear about your loss of employment, AS- I hope things work out well for you.

Also, sorry to hear about the divorce, DW- just had to help see a friend through a divorce last year... I hope things work out well for you, too.
