Does that mean I get a lute that shoots out gouts of flame when I strum the strings?  :D

Beware... The Lute of Flaming Gout isn't what you think it is...

Beware... The Lute of Flaming Gout isn't what you think it is...

After but one strum, you can never again play another instrument, as the Lute will always be the first one you reach for.  Each day that passes, your skin becomes another shade darker, and visibly age to infirmity, but can still play the Lute better than anyone has ever heard.  You can no longer play "happy" music.  And although all of these changes will make you famous, it is almost always posthumously, and you will die in debt, in some flea-bitten hovel.

But your fans will always claim you were a misunderstood genius.  Have fun!

Glitch Girl

I think that's the Lute of Cureless Nirvana you got there PG.

BlueBard

I think Viking's just looking for an excuse to break out in a rendition of "Great Ballls of Fire".

(forgive the misspelling... the naughty filter apparently doesn't like Jerry Lee Lewis songs...)

Viking

Nah, I'd need a piano as my accompaniment to pull that one off...

Uncle Yuan

BlueBard

See, I'm not sure why 'jimmies' should be less offensive than the b word.

I can throw a Fire Ball in an RPG, but not more than one.  (Fire jimmies)

I can talk about bowling, but no discussion of a bowling ball in the plural.  (Bowling jimmies)

I can talk about Ballroom Dancing, but heaven forbid I should attend any jimmies.

There's just something fundamentally wrong with this filter...

BlueBard

Oh, I thought of an even worse abuse...

Guess what I'm having for dinner tonight?  Spaghetti and Meat jimmies!

Now we're really entering into the realm of an inappropriate filter substitution.

Lord Elcorion

hey everyone. i'm back from rennfair! was a pretty good weekend. pics may appear in general chat in a few days.

Uncle Yuan

Welcome back, you ubergeek!  I hope you had a good time.

Glitch Girl

Yes, welcome back.  Would love to see the pics.

BTW sorry I'm being sporatic, but things are a bit zooish around here at the moment.  Big work project plus plumbing problems plus impending Halloween party equal just a widdle bit o' stress.

And BB, that word substitution sounds like NightDragon's work methinks.

Aww, isn't that sweet Og, your new pack animal just gave you love nip.  (never mind the fact that it probably would have taken finger off a lesser being, it's still cute :D )

Daniel, at the moment, is looking slightly les than his "cheery" self (though the addition of the tools made hium brighten up a bit.  Bits of hair still cling to his clothes and his hair... well what's left of it is looking pretty monkish.  He does not look happy, but at least he looks relatively pious until he starts trying to hide the various thieves gear under the robes he brorowed from Nathan making him seem more like a felonious monk*.

Hey Daniel, is that a piano under your robes, or are you just happy to see us?

Uncle Yuan

Orloid watches in fascination as Daniel picks up his own wanted poster and secrets it underneith his "monk's robes."  It's a deft little manuever intended to hide small items from casual search and is well known in thieves' circles as the "Flyer Tuck."

GROOAAANNN!!!  :P

Good one!  Best pun yet!

Uncle Yuan

Every morning I have a 30" bike ride to the hospital.  I have to occupy my mind with  something during that time.

And thanks for the compliment.  Unfortunately, (or fortunately?) you weren't on the CoV team with Viking the other night where he stated that he was going to roll an alcoholic Broadsword scrapper and name him Sir Osis of the River.

Viking

A 30" bike ride to the hospital?  Methinks you made a typo, unless you bike those thirty inches at an incredibly slow pace.

And to get the full effect of the pun that I made while playing CoV, I suggested a concept for an aging, alcoholic knight who derives his power from a mystical river spirit.  Hence, the name of "Sir Osis of the River."

Truly good/bad puns set up all the elements in advance, much like the "Flyer Tuck" reference.

Glitch Girl

Yeah, I keep thinking I got set up by you guys over the monk pun.  I mean, I should have seen that one coming - a thief dressed as a monk, you KNOW it's gotta go there at some point.  Though most of our best/worst groaners have come spur of the moment.  Whenever Kenneth tries some kind of complex ruse to get the spellcaster to cast something so he can make a pun it usually falls flat and Mandi revokes his pum priveleges, like that actually does anything.

And speaking of titles, maybe you should have a knight with the strength of the mighty bull, and call him "Sir Lyon of Beef."

(Yes, I loved that old Bugs Bunny Cartoon.  :D )

If I were using " as a notation of distance it would indeed be a very short ride.  " can also be used as a notation of time . . .

I think it's prudent to note that the "Flyer Tuck" should not be confused with another move popular with urban thieves - that of quickly and surreptitiously aquiring one's dinner from the wagon of the poultry farmer on his way to market.  That, of course, would be the "Fryer Pluck."

Glitch Girl

[slight pause whilst I deal with coordinating the Halloween festivities (ie: throwing a party for my friends) at my place.  See you tomorrow and HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!]

Glitch Girl

I haven't been on in a bit and probably won't be on much the rest of the week.  Got some problems here which will hopefully be sorted out soon (fingers crossed).  Promise IO haven't forgotten about you guys.

Lord Elcorion

we'll be here. hope things get sorted soon

Glitch Girl

Semi-sorted.  the calendar though has hit a few snags.  We're trying to work them out. Keep your fingers crossed.

Glitch Girl

Okay, by this weekend either the Calendar will be together... or I'll eb stressing through the holiday. And considering how close it is, I'm going to hold off until at least Sunday, but I WILL post then, promise.

Uncle Yuan

So, GG, the calendar is up - any thoughts on when the game can get going again?

Glitch Girl

I had hoped for this week, but I haven't been able to really sit down and do it with work and assorted Holiday stuff going on.  I'll give a vague "soon" for the moment (which hopefully will be in the next day or two or three)

Lord Elcorion

an chance of this getting kick started again soon?

BlueBard

Far be it from me to answer for Glitch Girl... which I can't...

But given her personal situation (which she has previously mentioned in General) I'd give it as long as she needs.

So...

It will return when it returns.  That's probably about the best answer.  I'll be waiting patiently if it does, but if it doesn't I'll understand.

Happy New Year to those parts of the world that have already seen it and to those to whom it is coming!

Glitch Girl

Yes I do want this to return.  Things are better, now that the new year has finally started (let's say New Year's was depressing and leave it at that) and things are almost back to normal. I may move things ahead a little bit to try to give the story some momentum once I get a handle on where we stand.

Uncle Yuan

Coolness!  I'm looking forward to it!
