Strangers 2 ... dead or just in limbo?

First off, this may not be a new topic. At least I hope it's not. Second, this may be the wrong place for it, but I wasn't sure where else to post it as it's not a request (yet).

I just wondered if any1 knows if Strangers 2 is completely dead? Or if perhaps it was passed on to new hands? The idea behind it, along with the character designs really intrigued me, and I was disappointed to hear...well, you know what I heard :(.

Strangers 2 has been out of commission for quite awhile. I think it was OOC before FFX for FFVTTR even came out. Anyway, unless Dr. Mike returns and suddenly has a huge burst of interest in modding again, I doubt it'll get made...or finished...or something. Also, I doubt anyone else could do the strangers justice like the creator (Mike) could...so...yeah.

Strangers was officially abandoned when Dr Mike quit FF-modding. Hopefully he gets the itch to get back to the game some year soon (hey, he did renew the Fundament Zero domain name last month, so at least he's not that much out of the FF loop :) )

BTW, Dr Mike posted an outline of what the story would have been, but it's alas been lost along with all board content due to forum hacking.

Thanks for responding, and I hope so too! Altough I am glad he renewed for those of us who may have lost all his stuff due to meltdown, and want it back. It was all so good...and funny and intellectual. Oh carp, his stuff was everything we :wub: in a great mod! and he did it omre than once! ^_^

Sorry, but its pretty much dead.
I still think about it every now and then, and nice to hear that you guys do too, but the idea of going through all that again is too much.
Did I ever publish the "Killing the Strangers" document? Did I ever even finish iton my HDD?

This was like an HTML outline of the sequel mission-by-mission, Ill maybe try to dig that out sometime and see what sort of shape its in and stick it up on Fundament Zero

Ive had a look, and found out why I never publsihed the "Killing the Strangers" document - I never finished writing it!
Well, guess what I'm doing now.. I'd stopped just as it was getting good, so I'm going to finish it off and then stick the whole thing up on my website once its done.

Actually, its kind of nice to be doing some writing again.
Ive spent the past eighteen months as Lead Programmer on a new games studio set up in Adelaide after the old one got closed down, working currently on a Star Wars project for the PSP. I know its a good relaxed place to work, because I've finally quit smoking (16 months, woo hoo!) and taken up a new addiction of online games, and been kind of quiet on the home creative front.

Just to clarify. I WILL NOT be modding, just writing out the synopsis of what would have been :)

Hey man, that's fantastic! We all mourn the fact that Strangers 2 will never be, but I still love those characters, so I deffinetly want to see what happens to them. (Did you ever take a crack at that comic we talked about?)

I didn't know you worked at a game studio, that's pretty cool! Let me know if you work on anything for PC or Xbox, I might just have to pick it up. ^_^

It has been a verrrrry long time since I've coded anything in C...moreover, I'm already buried in a Marvel character mod and another mod I'm working on. If all else fails, I could have a look at it, I just wouldn't be able to promise anything more than general destruction and mayhem. But hey, why not?

Moving faster than a slug covered in syrup, I have finally managed to package up some of the Strangers 2 scripts and actually... >gulp!<.. update my website!

From the little I was able to read, it was quite the story. I thought it was cool how you included a little bit of your CoH experience into the story and made me flash back to my coh days...Lightning (beep) is quite an interesting name, btw. :P

I read this earlier in the week and forgot to reply. (I only went and forgot to post my bleedin' reply, did't I!?). Excellent stuff as always Doc Mike; I do always enjoy the metafictional flourishes that pepper your works.
