I wanted to kick something last night, we were what.. 2 missions away from finishing the TF, when I lost connection? My stupid DSL crapped out.

it only happens maybe 1-2 times a year, if that much, but it is always when I'm playing a game.

One thing to be aware of is that if you leave your machine on for an extended period of time, it will eventually have to renew the IP address your ISP assigned you.  If you get a different IP when your IP lease renews, you could lose those kinds of connections.

To avoid that, you could always log out your DSL connection before you get on to play.  That way the lease renewal won't happen for awhile.

The other thing is signal.  If you get signal interference on your phone lines, that can trash your connection.  Any strong source of electromagnetic radiation near a phone line could be an issue... microwaves, etc.  Also, make sure that every other phone line in the house has a DSL filter on it.

Of course it could just be gremlins. ;)

Eek, I know the feeling. My problems are from my wireless connection going kaput, but the end result is the same..

I try and power my entire system down at least once a week, including my DSL.

it's still annoying when it happens! :)

We waited 30 minutes or so before we started the final mission of the Task Force.   Tough break.
