I have been having a problem with my comp rebooting when playing games and I have done several things to find a solution. I have not however flashed my mobo bios. I don't have a floppy drive so I am having a tough time doing it, but will old bios cause a comp to reboot when gaming?

Are you running hot? Heat always used to cause reboots and lockups during games for me.

What would be the best way to figure out if it is heat that is causing the reboots? It only happens when I game.

Open the side of your case, get an oscillating stand-up fan, and blow it directly in your case. If you don't have problems with that setup, your problem is heat. As for how to fix heat problems..? I never really solved that. I got a new computer.

You can buy fans that go right in your case.

I am now suspecting a overheating gpu or possibly cpu. I switched out my geforce 7800 with my old 6600 after I felt how hot the heatsink was on the 7800. The reboots stopped but I have to test it for several days to really determine if that was the problem. I ordered these to make sure I was cooling the gpu and cpu as much as I can, short of buying a liquid cooling system.
