Who inspired your avatar?

Revenant

Or, what character are they similar to?  I mean, is there an existing comic book or literary character that your avatar is similar to, based on, et cetra?  Are they %100 unique?

If you had to pick one or more heroes who have the same level of power, who would they be?

Mine would be obviously based on the appearance of Johnny Storm, the Human Torch.  But his powers are similar to Magneto's.  His life might loosely follow the story of The Picture of Dorian Grey, but with a happier ending, and more action and explosions... or maybe the Manga Devil Man, or Spawn, in that he gets infused with hellish energies and has to do battle with demonic hordes.

As for his level of power, I hesitiate to make him cosmic level.  For day-to-day crimefighting, he has normal power level... think Gambit, Bishop, or Starfire level energy manipulation.  When he faces a grave conflict, he can call on more energy at the risk of damaging himself or the environment, at which point he goes up to Magneto or Orion levels of power.  This is a temporary increase so that I don't have a powerhouse to deal with!

captainspud

I'm a generic. Big, beefy, and annoyingly heroic.

The Hitman

I'm totally a rip- off of Captain Atom. The origin is a mix of Plastic Man and CA (former criminal blown to bits in a freak accident). And he knows he fictional, and has met the comic writer in a similar fashion to Animal Man. But the powers are all Cap Atom.

And, because no one asked, the name came from my 7th grade basketball nickname. I couldn't shoot or run to save my life, but I could foul like a pro. I'm the only guy in our local history to full- on tackle a guy going up for a layup shot. People still talk about it today.

Mr. Hamrick

this incarnation of my avatar is definitely a variation on the Bond villain Elliot Carver from "Tomorrow Never Dies" mixed with a little bit of Black Mask from the Batman comic and Lex Luthor in a few ways.  There are probably some other influences from a few other villains but those are the main.

the_ultimate_evil

its weird my av was based on an existing character i had from high school due to my love of horror and comic book, my friends referred it as spider-man meets buffy.

there was a few night wing( another fav of mine) remarks when he first was posted here but I've tweaked the design so hopefully they are not major now

its strange in the past few years i'm having more fun developing flesheaters villains and supproting cast of heros and cast of characters rather than the av himself

Lunarman

I have no idea where the name Lunarman came from although he's pretty generic in terms of personality. Kinda heroic, brave and all for justice but he's not very empathic and that's his weakness.

Power wise I'd say he's more x-men wise. He's got gravity powers only but uses them in clever ways to give him other abilities such as flight and super strength. He could probably beat Minuteman in a fight and Batman but Iron Man or Thor would cream him.

Except that nobody can beat Batman.

Sword

Podmark

My avatar was designed by UnsungWeezer and based around Hellscorp's av since my avatar was originally his henchman.

He's probably most similar to Deadpool as a character.

vamp

My av is most like batman (obviously). Power wise he is most like banshee. Life wise he is close to batman but a whole lot more distant and angered frequently.

The actually name came from a dumb nick name i got. See, for some odd reason the type of lights they use a schools(and various other buildings) hurt my eyes and make me blink like an idiot So a friend started to say i was a vampire. It didn't help that i don't like pictures, going over water or too much garlic. Though, oddly enough, I am a devoted Christian.

Protomorph

My avatar was randomly rolled for a pen and paper superhero game. His character is based on me. Equivalent comics character...nobody singular. I'm basically a flying Plastic Man. His costume is essentially what I was able to throw together myself (our costume rules stated that thery had to be something that we could really get together), spandex pants, shirt, denim jacket, and dark glasses. Trivia: Early on, he carried a kitana, but stopped due to the fact that he doesn't kill. He does occasionally carry an aluminum bo-staff to hit stuff with. His strength level is around 4 tons.

Reepicheep

I quite liked this guy Seda back when Reepicheep was a twinkle in someone's eye. I drew him here and there and sorta donned him as my own character. I took the same idea into hero tool, and came out the other side with something respectfully different. It was a while before i noticed I gave him eyes without pupils, but I thought I may as well keep that. You might remember the old vested version - I remember Starlock did a rockin' pair of animations of him. (clicky)

Then I started to like trenchcoats. I think it was a mix between the matrix and Mowgli's image of Direwolf that made me really, really like them. I had the trenchcoat version laying around for ages.

Then I wanted something more sinister. Reepicheep was becoming more of a villain than an anti-hero in my eyes. I started to grow on Nightmare from soul calibur and the eye wrap idea from Dominic Deegan's TIM the infernomancer rung true (He looked better later on, and someone did an awesome piece of art featuring him. I couldn't resist). I bunged a big ol' claw on Reepicheep, lost his eyes to a wrap and, following my brother's idea, handed him a meat cleaver. Sorta turned into this.

kkhohoho

At first, Kkhohoho was just a forum name I came up with.  However, later, in a posting game, someone called me "evil santa", and it just went from there, though nowadays, he's an evil hero.  Don't ask. :santa:

Carravaggio

Evil, galaxy conquering Superman. Obvious, huh?

UnfluffyBunny

well lunarman's appearance was obviously inspired by ferro lad...

Syn originally was evil telepath with spawns origin.
nowadays he's like a pumped up shadowking. (maybe throw in a little onslaught)

BatWing

Midnight

wickerman

The Iron Maiden mascot Eddie.  Never really considered what kind of 'abilities' he would have.  He is most certainly immortal and possesses a level of coolness unmeasurable!

Phoenix

you in a green spandex suit is a sight that should not be seen by mortal man

The Pwime

The Pwime himself isn't really my avatar...he's more of a flashback, what my avatar originally was.  I'd say he was inspired by a mix of spider-man and Robin (minus the sidekick-y bit).  Power-wise, he's just a telekinetic who's learning.

The current, energy-wielding, sort-of-but-not-really-unstoppable Pwime is a mix of Neo, and...umm...some powerful energy-manipulating character?  With a dash of Superman for good luck?  I don't know. He's re-establishing how to use his telekinetic abilities (which are a lot more powerful now), and he's got some really powerful kind of energy at his disposal that can be used in the form of highly devestating blasts and "charging" objects to make them weapons.  If he takes a lot of damage, it also replaces parts of his body so he can continue fighting, but at this point using any of his energy attacks can be very risky.  He's also very susceptible to energy attacks that others use against him, in this state.

Yeah, I have no idea what character fits that description.  =|  Basically, he stops bullets, throws people around, punches really hard, flies, and his energy powers are similar to Spawn - they're limited, but VERY powerful.

EDIT:  Size of rambling segment has been reduced.  Literally.

yell0w_lantern

Forbushman!

Wait, I know this one...

Um, Green Lantern?

Volsung

Lord Volsung is inspired by several Evil genius^^

Especially Professor Moriarty from Sherlock Hound ,Doctor Wily from Megaman/Rockman and Docteur Eggman/Robotnik

Mercy his 'maidbot' is inspired by R dorothy wainwright from Big O

If I should pick a equivalent from comics, I guess it would be Arcade or Toyman^^
Lord Volsung is just a human with some gadget.(Maybe one day he'll have to turn in a cyborg^^)
Danger comes from his creations
Gigantic cheap looking robots^^

Maybe after the timmverse project...

He isn't a hero, or a comic book character, but you just described Sylar from Heroes

MJB

Em isn't really based on anyone. He's a "Frankenstein" of other peoples ideas.

He was created out of necessity. Back in the MyFF days there was a Forum mod being discussed. An open call to anyone who wanted to be involved was posted and I raised my hand. Volt asked for my avatar and I said that I didn't have one. He suggested that I design something and he would skin it. I didn't know how to skin, nor did I have the proper tools, so I obliged and began designing.

I came up with a version of Em that was part cyborg. His cyborg parts were actually taken from a junk yard. He was going to be called "Mobil Junk Borg" or something lame like that. I sent the drawing off to Volt and he said it was too complicated to skin. My design was too "elaborate".

Next Alex came up with Em's powers for the mod. Since they already had guys with electricity and fire powers he needed an ice guy to balance out the mod. Thus Em had ice powers. Now that he had more to work with Volt then gave the duty of skinning my likeness to Ink.

Ink designed the silver/blue armor and gave him the tat under his left eye but didn't give Em my brown hair/eyes or beard. I altered the skin to look more like me and his design was complete.

His resurrection power came from my many visits to Dr. Manbot's Chat Shack where Em would get killed every other minute. It was said by someone (I forget who) that Em had the power to resurrect from any un-natural death.

There you have it. The long boring story of where Emjaybee came from. Not really based on any specific character and birthed by more people than I can shake a stick at.

Damn, I'm really surprised I missed that...

I guess I might've missed it because I was thinking mainly about the energy blasts, and Sylar never really used them, he just experimented with them a bit...but still...damn...

Alrighty then, my avatar is a mix of Superman, Neo, Sylar, and Spawn.

I thought that was just the explosion caused from the clash of all the powers that he and Peter were using (ie. the cryo powers versus Peter's pyro powers, and so on)

Oh well, he DOES have them, so I guess it does fit the description well enough.  Pwime just doesn't eat people's brains and steal their powers, that's all.

MACH 3

In coming up with a new avatar, I went back to my own interest in the ways of the ninja. His story would be dark, a normal human being, with a good heart, meets an unfortunate end, and journeys through the depths of hell itself, only to be imbued with superhuman abilities, and commissioned by God himself to carry forth justice in the midst of an evil world. With some of the newer attributes in FFX, I can make him more like the character I intended him to be, angst-ridden, a bit of a beserker, but an incredible fighter nonetheless. Comicwise, he would give wolverine and captain america a run for their money.

HumanTon

The name is from dim-witted, puppet-obessed behemoth from the Tick cartoon. When I originally signed up for the first board I was going to call myself Handy, but I foolishly figured no one would get it. Read a book!

When it came time to dream up my FF character, I went with a retro Golden Age Robotman look. Syn did a great skin/hex which you can find up on his site.
