Seriously though, I know how you feel.  I somehow ended up mod on another board (probably because I seems to be cursed with competency ;) that has a large teen and pre-teen population.  There isn't a day that goes by I don't want to smack someone upside the head for posting or doing something dumb.  I don't of course, but I swear there are times I just want to scream.

What annoys me most about forums, and the internet in general, is when people ask for something that is easily findable and usually in a thread directly below their own post.

My second pet peeve is usually people not filtering their comments so they don't offend someone...BUT, just like real life, I can't expect everyone to go around watching their comments so that other people's feelings aren't hurt nor can I expect for everyone not to hold their favorite people on an increda high pedastal...that's just funny talk.  ^_^

I know people just say "oh well, it's the internet, expect it", but, remember these boards from 4 years ago, was it really like it is now?
but a fair point is a fair point, wether i'm here, in guild wars, in secondlife, browsing youtube or a game site or a comic site...
there's always someone that is gonna set you off, it's unavoidable.

Actually, I think the place has tamed down considerably over some of the fool cranks we've had to put up with in the past.

Flaming seems to be less of a problem.  Anyone who's been here for any length of time has gotten to know everybody else well enough to put up with their flaws, idiosyncrasies, and neuroses and let them slide.  Not that we don't see spats here and there, but they generally blow over quicker and impact fewer people.

Heck, I even got used to -Spud-.  ;)

Of course a large part of that owes to the diligence and dedication of the admin and mod staff to defuse tension and occasionally 'body check' folks as needed.  Kudos!

I will agree with Blue Bard about the flaming and such easing off in the past few years but the idiotic posts that are bloody annoying seem to have gone through the roof as of late.  Now I know I've ever made the mistake and set up a post that's answer is just a few feet away from my nose and for that I apologize...I really didn't mean to back then.  But the latest bombardment of these types have gotten outrageous.  Make me just want to take a stick of TNT and shove it up the offending parties...well, ye get the picture.  Course that's always the time I step aside form the computer, walk outside, find the nearest dumbassed person I can find, and commence beating them half to death.  I really find doing that eases all temper.   ;)

I use to get very, very mad at intraweb people but I realized "it is the internet, get use to it." Now I don't even care, why should I let someone who I don't know and who doesn't affect my life on a daily basis really matter to me.

It just seems so pointless and trivial to care.

'Tis true.  I have been posting more frequently of late. ;)

There are several camps, to be sure, but two that are at odds seem to be A. those who treat the forums as both repository of knowledge and social meeting place and B. those who treat the forums as a drive-thru window ("Yes, I'd like two TJ meshes with cheese and a side of C6 skins.").  I have to admit that some of the impatience I've noticed in recent posts in the requests forum has irked me enough to make mention of it, but, on the whole, I tend not to take much notice of those threads if I cannot be helpful to the original poster.  I suppose one's response depends upon what stake one imagines one has in the forums: is one akin to a property owner or a nomad on holiday?  I prefer to think of myself as the latter, most of the time, and so I try not to let the posts of no significance pester me. *shrug*

Let's bear in mind too the summer recess and all the kiddies with 24-hour Internet access and a huge ice-pop-inspired sugar rush who might happen across this small plot of virtual land...

Ha, I imagine I'm a tad bit more patient with some of the sillyness that goes on, at least when it comes from a newness to the boards and not an all around bad attitude.  I suppose that's because I remember only too clearly how terribly dim I was when I first came here, and how incredibly nice and patient you all were.  I really appreciate that, and I'd like for others to get that feeling too.

Still.....sometimes you do just wanna' reach through the screen and slam their heads into the desk......sometimes!
