Heya, my first time posting here as I just found out about these games. While playing FFV3R during the first level my computer just decides it hates me and the game crashes. At first I was using just the default Catalyst drivers for my Radeon 9800xt that would cause the game to black screen on me and just freeze that way. No error message, no blue screen of death just a black screen. So I decided I'd try the Omega Drivers and I supose that made it a bit better, if freezing with a picture is any better then freezing with a blank screen.

Edit: I got to the second level with no freezes, then for some unknown reason all of a sudden BAM freeze with audio stuttering.

Any one have this problem or is it just me, I've only got to play the game a little and I'm allready sure its got a bit of a awesome to it and I'd like to play the whole thing.  :banghead:

The black screen thing is a fairly common problem with certain video cards.
Try looking at this thread to see if this helps with the black screen issue.

The stuttering on the second mission is weird.
Now i have an ATI card that behaves like that when the video card crashes (never happened to FFvTR but it has happened a bit on Oblivion).

ATI has an option on the cards called VPU recover you can turn on as an option, and if you wait for like 10-15 seconds it usually will reset itself and everything will be fine. You might try turning that on (if its not already) and see if it helps your problem.

Thanks for the help I'm trying this now. Just reinstalled, updated audio drivers ectra. Crossing my fingers.

Just tryed that little "Mini" patch. All drivers completely updated no strange programs running in the back ground going to try a reinstall if that doesnt work I guess I just wont be playing.  :(

Edit: Reinstalled, still just freezes up on what seams to be totally random points. I can't pick out any one thing that makes it crash.

Sorry to hear you are having this problem. From what people have posted before, it seems like certain cards are very finicky about which drivers will work with the game and which will not. Some people have had luck not with the latest drivers, but by trying previous editions of the drivers. It's a hit-and-miss process, but you might want to give that a shot.

Also, just to see if it's part of the problem, it's pretty easy to turn the sound off in the game options menu. If you can play through that second level without crashes, then maybe it's sound drivers that are at issue. (I run with the emulated sound setting...)

You know it may very well be a sound problem now that you mention it. I'm going to try that real fast thank you for the help. ^-^

Edit: Thanks for the help but trying with no sound didn't work. Any one here using a Radeon 9800xt Know what driver to try? One that mabye works for you?

I tryed a few older drivers, tryed running with the case open to see if it was heating problems. I just don't know what to try. Well onto a diffrent game I supose thanks all for the help.
