Guess I'm going to be the first to spill two parts of the news from the X-Men Disassembled aftermath...

:spoiler: Two new titles are going to be added to the X-Teams line-up but the names of the comics should ring a bell or two.

First up...

X-Force is a new ongoing series debuting in February 2008 with Clayton Crain as the artist and the writer will be announced later. Alex Alonso stated that this team is going back underground with the all new membership and they will do the dirty bloody work that nobody else wants to do. Wolverine will lead the team with Warpath, Wolfsbane, and X-23 along for the ride. The characters will appear in other titles but this chronicles the stealth missions they will unite together to handle when the jobs need to be done.

3 pictures were revealed:

And the second title....

Cable is getting his solo title back and Deadpool & Cable is going to be retired... Alex revealed that Deadpool however will find a new home somewhere in the near future (see Wolverine & Deadpool series now for what happens). Cable is an ongoing series debuting in March 2008 with Ariel Olivetti as the new artist and the writer yet to be revealed. Alex was quoted as saying: "Yes, he’s back – the only question is, when: the past, the present, or the future? This Cable series will be unlike anything we’ve ever published."

One picture was released as well:

No more Cable and Deadpool? :(

Oh gawd, say it ain't so. Not to mention no more Bob Agent of Hydra.......I think I'm going to be sick.

In all honesty Marvel hinted at both these titles long ago so I'm hardly surprised. Also neither is grabbing me at this particular time. I'm curious about the Cable series though.

AfghanAnt

I hate that new costume on Cable and I really dislike X-Force. We do not need another title with Wolverine in it.

Glitch Girl

In picture 2, why is Wolfsbane in a gimp mask?

Why the heck is Marvel trying to fix something that isn't broken?

I'm actually pretty surprised by it being canceled. Deadpool has such a strong following. :deadpool:

If you hear a howl in the night that is me crying "NO!!~"  :(

Maybe...maybe Deadpool will get his own comic. It will be written by Joe Kelly and everything will be all right....

ok.  is it just me or is Wolfsbane HORRIBLY miscast..... She's devoutly religious, and i believe until very recently was a virgin too.  she was always quite remorseful when she had to turn to violence... as she could lose control of herself,  which also played well with her Catholic aspect.
no for her to be on a remorseless bloody stealth team... something terrible must happen to her during Messiah Complex.   wonder whats going to happen to Hepzibah,  she would've been perfect on this team.

and Cable in a new series?  I Knew Messiah Complex was referring to Cable and not Prof X/Magneto/who have you.  the new costume looks like one of his original ones.

Agreed. I would also think Domino would be an ideal candidate as well.

If that were to happen I'd go play the lottery cause it would be the luckiest day of my life. ;)

This has me worried about X-Factor.  So far I haven't seen anything that gives an idea whether or not it will be included but I'm assuming it will since apparently Wolfsbane is changing teams.

Really, this should be called W-Force.  Excuse my continuity illiteracy, but isn't X-23 supposed to be Wolvie's daughter, or some such garbage?  Of course, they might as well call it Suck-Fest, it'll be pretty much the same thing.

Wow, is that limburgher & monkfish left out in the desert sun for 5 days that I smell?  Oh, no, it's just the new X-Force title.

I think the idea of putting Wolverine, X-23, and Wolfsbane on the same team makes sense if you consider the recent revelations in the Wolverine solo title (the idea that all "feral" mutants are basically a distinct subspecies of Homo Superior). Not saying that I particularly like the idea that seemingly motivated the make-up of the team's roster, but I can see the logic behind it. No idea what Warpath is doing there, though, but the cynical comic book reader in me keeps saying that in the hands of lesser writers, he might end up being nothing more than a Native-American version of the "magical negro."

Not too sure about that Cable book... Ariel Olivetti's recent work on Punisher War Journal didn't exactly make me a fan, it seems like he's struggled of late to maintain the standards he set on The Last Avengers Story.

I'm betting Deadpool gets a solo title or gets a spot in a high-profile team book, he is one of the more currently popular characters, it seems odd that there's scant little news out there so it's quite likely that Marvel is saving up the announcement for a convention or a bigger press release.

The one good thing about Cable & Deadpool ending: I can stop reading about Cable.  I mean, not that he's been in the comic bearing his name much lately, but to me that's all for the best.  Here's hoping Deadpool lands somewhere awesome.

A few points:

-Comments from Peter David make me believe X-Factor will continue. He's stated the team is losing a member (Wolfsbane?) and gaining someone else.

-Deadpool will be appearing in Marvel Presents, but I have this feeling Marvel isn't big on him right now. Still he'll be in something sooner or later.

-Wolfsbane really doesn't fit on a team of stealth killers.

-The costume in the Cable cover is terrible.

A great big UGH to X-Force (apparently being yet another Wolverine book)...I also agree about Wolfsbane..She's not meant to be a ruthless killer...It sounds like character-assassination to me.

I'm not sure about the Cable book...But I was never a big fan of him, anyway.

I won't be picking up either book.

Thanks for the info.   :)

Silver Shocker

It's a shame, not horribly surprising, I knew from very early on that C&D being cancilled was an enivitability, but I still liked the book a lot. It fluctuated wildly in terms of quality and direction, but I really liked the newer issues. I like to believe DP will bounce back eventually. On the plus side I've been made a fairly big Cable fan mainly because of C&D and could enjoy a new Cable book, but with an artist on it I don't care for at all, and no writer assigned just yet and no real direction slated, I'm not exactly in any hurry to add it to my pull list or anything.

In PAD's Maddrox mini which preceded X-Factor I recall her making a comment about being a virgin but I wasn't sure if it was meant to be sarcastic or what, but her reserved, religious nature has been a very consistant element of her character. In recent X-Factor issues (starting just before 13 I'd say) she's become gradually more violent and agressive (including a rather disturbing vision of her killing Maddrox and Layla Miller) so yeah they better have a darn good explanation for this, or it better be a noticable change over the course of the upcoming storylines or I'll simply have to dismiss it as an Austin-ish blunder.

Used to be Cable & Deadpool's future as a title character was always stable. Deadpool turned into the hilarious and well written spin-off Agent X (which more or less made Simone's career), while Cable turned into the as-far-as-I-know-exactly-the-same Soldier X. When the two books ended, they shared them, and I always figured them splitting would probably be because of Cable getting a new book, not Deadpool, but I still want to see more (good) Deadpool.

For the record, I'd much rather have a new Simone-written DP than Kelly, but that's just me. I know there's lots of die-hard Kelly DP fans, but I've never been one of them.

Don't tell me they're letting Austen anywhere near the X-men ever again!!!!!!!!
i hope you're making a comparison, and not stating that Austen is coming back to write.
