Clint and Sam are pretty interesting choices to me but in the end I went with Bucky.

The Hitman

Steve'll come back. There's a story arc that's coming up kinda soon, with Alex Ross attached to it (I can't think of the other guys right now), where the WWII- era Invaders time travel to the present. Somehow, I bet Old Cap will stick around. That way, uncreative writers can fall back on the used- to-death "Man out of his time/element" aspect of Captain America again.

Of course, this is all speculation from a jaded comic reader. I hope Clint gets it, at least for a while.

Although I would like to see Steve back,it`s not very likely.
But I think Bucky would be the logical choice.

A sign of my deliberate hypocrisy, i hate bringing dead characters back but i would accept any BS excuse to resurrect the true Steve Rogers. Clone him a new super soldier body, have him spontaneously regenerate when exposed to an additional dose of the serum, or even pixie dust. I don't care gimme back my Cap!
Although it'd be cool to see Clint carry the shield for a stretch.

I'd go with Bucky or Sam Wilson. And even though I liked Steve Rogers and wouldn't really mind if he somehow became Cap again at some point, I think this is a chance for Marvel to do something different and show that sometimes, changes do stick.

Of course Steve will be back. They'll milk this storyline for as long as they can, and then when the novelty wears off, they'll make a big event out of resurrecting Rogers.

flicking through a comic a few weeks back, cant remember what it was, and I didnt get it in my weekly batch because it was a rather heavy week, but the last page had steve rogers sitting on a med bed with pipes wticking into his shoulders and someone saying somthing like welcome back or some such, bah I shoulda picked the thing up

Outcast

From what i've read in this article, I am beginning to doubt the return of Steve Rogers as Captain America.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/SHOWBIZ/books/03/07/captain.america/index.html

Here are some of what i think are the important parts in the article.

The death of Captain America. Marvel says the comic story line was intentionally written as an allegory to current real-life issues like the Patriot Act, the War on Terror and the September 11 attacks.

"He hasn't been living in the modern world and the world does move," says Marvel Editor-in-Chief Joe Quesada.

Quesada said he wanted to readers find their own meaning in Cap's end.

Still, one has to wonder: Is Captain America really dead? Comic book characters have routinely died, only to be resurrected when necessary to storylines.

Joe Quesada agrees -- but said times are different now.

"There was period in comics where characters would just die and then be resurrected. And the death had very little meaning and the resurrection had very little meaning," he said. "All I ask of my writers is if you're going to kill a character off, please let that death have some meaning in the overall scope of things."

Hmmm...something to think about...

Though i still like Steve Rogers to come back, but if they don't have any plans,i think Bucky would be a nice candidate to take the role of the next Captain America. Symbolyzing youth maybe? ^_^ And of course, to give meaning to Bucky's training and experience with Captain America. :P

Steve Rogers is and always will be Captain America.

Anyone else is just a guy wearing Steve's uniform.

i'm with c6....theres only 1 captain america.to me these characters are set in stone.

Sword

Clint did wear the flag for one issue of Fallen Son. But when Tony tried to get him to arrest Hawkingbird and Patriot, he handed over the shield and told Tony he'd mail the costume back to him.

And of course, Steve himself wrote the letter saying that the legacy should live on.

Perfect.

Find my own meaning in Steve Rogers death?  Publishers always find a way to ruin a good charactor.   That's the meaning they keep teaching me.
