Who knew a table could do this?

Hey gangers,

check out a future microsoft product:
Table Video 1
Table video 2

Love microsoft or not, but you must admit that a iphone like table is pretty cool...and possibly expensive.

Can we say, "Next-gen back pain"?

Well, I'm not getting rid of my normal computer for any of those naff-desk-based-visual-funky-backpain-inducing-non-gaming PCs!

Why?

although Paint at the end of video two looks pretty cool

Remind me never to put my wallet down on one of those things!

I like the applications for graphics work and so on. And, I suppose being able to hook up multiple mice to a PC so that more than one person can interact on the same screen can be useful. I think with all the BlueTooth devices, we are pretty close to that already, though there is some novelty to the horizontal screen you can touch (which, in basic form, was around like twenty years ago from HP).

But, I think, like many of these new user interface paradigms, it starts out a bit too literal. I mean, it's a nice gimmick, but I don't actually want to drag full-sized pictures, or Word documents, or HERO files (!) from my device to my friend's. A folder with filenames is fine (and, for me, more productive) for most cases.

The idea that you might have these in a bar or restaurant is a little frightening. They'd have to be pretty robust to last in those environments and we'll see a nice surge in germ dissemination. Though, I guess if you can select stuff right from the on-screen menu, it reduces the chances that you end up with chutney chicken soup when you wanted chunky chicken soup...  :P

I still wonder if cavemen griped about spears when they came out?  New fangled point and stick device, what's wrong with a club?  I like the table.
