Is this optional?
I just saw some skopes that doesn't have it and I'm so confused.

Podmark

A readme should always be included, preferrably listing all parts or meshes used.

Carravaggio

Yeah, skopes released without full credit is the sort of practice that will have artists retracting their permission reeeeal quick. Whoever it was, i hope they fix it ASAP.

Deaths Jester

Most definetly include a readme with a consise list of where the pieces come from and that ye didn't originally create it is almost a requirement.

GogglesPizanno

My general feeling is that anyone who releases anything (Skope, mesh, map, skin etc...) should include a read me if just for convenience of keeping track of stuff (in addition to all the valid reasons given above).

Failed_Hero

I often try for when I release to do a read like this.  Sometimes I forget, but I will remember to do so in the future.

the_ultimate_evil

a thing a lot seem to forget about is that if you include a skin you didn't do make sure the artist also receives credit

Carravaggio

To be honest i would hope no one would distribute a skope with a skin they didn't create or get permission to distribute. I would suggest that anyone who wants to use a skin created by another artist get explicit permission first.
The skoping permission list might include distribution, but no such blanket permission has been given by the dozens of skinners out there.

Podmark

I tend to think unaltered standards from the base mesh would be alright with a notation of who made the skin and where it came from. Part of this is that it may very well be necessary to include all necessary tgas for skinners to know what they're working with, and sometimes it's necessary to include a skin to show what exactly the skope does, and many of our skopers are not skinners.

Once again my key words are UNALTERED, base mesh STANDARD, and proper credit. I personally wouldn't complain if one of my standard skins was used in this method.

I think we need to hear some other opinions on this.

of course permission would be required, i thought that would be standard practise, but then again

Well, you could just provide the wiremaps for all of the parts.

me too. i read your first post like "if you are going to distribute skins with your skope make sure you get give credit". I'm saying a better step would be to get permission first. Just cos you give credit doesn't mean anyone but the author has permission to distribute the skins.
Of course i might have misinterpreted what you were saying, its happened before :)

the_ultimate_evil

no worries, my my original intent was just to make sure skinners got credit in read me, i mean  it common practise if you got permission for the mesh pieces you'd get permission for the skin.
