I was thinking about dressing up as Doctor Voodoo for Halloween which is right around the corner and I was wondering if anybody else had every dressed up as their online-avatar? I'd love to see pictures if you have them. I have to admit that the Wizard magazine I look forward to the most every year is the Halloween costume contest edition!

YoungHeros

well my avatar is a girl... and i'm boy/man/guy ^_^

sadly it wil never happen.

Reepicheep

My avatar wears a band over his eyes.

'nuff said.

Glitch Girl

I have tried, but two factors are always a problem:

1) The jacket: the way I drew it, it works on paper, but plain just doesn't exist in real life.  Not for lack of searching . Heck I can't even find a pattern to work.

2) The mask: getting a mask to lay on the face correctly and NOT look stupid or like molded plastic is very hard.  I haven't found a way to make a sufficent backing to make it "hang" right.

The Hitman

I have the suit jacket. I have the shades. What I don't have is the "shiny blue skin." Bummer, I know.

Haha well just have your wife/girlfriend/friend dress up. In my opinion I think it would be worth it to see your concept come from 2-D to 3-D :)

The jacket is a problem. I looked at it and it did look a little hard to pull off. However, I read that latex paint, can be painted on fabric and be worn repeatedly with a molded shape.

From http://www.ioffer.com/i/LIQUID-LATEX-FLOUR-GREEN-16-OZ-LL023-12723835
QuoteLiquid latex may be used for a variety of other applications, including creating custom rubber coated clothing. Latex will coat non stretch absorbent fabrics such as denim and elastic stretch fabrics such as lycra and spandex. It does not coat fabrics such as tshirt cotton, as it will not retain its elasticity and will easily stretch out. Painting can be done while the garment is on the body, but drying time will be greater than painting onto the skin. Use a hair dryer or heater to speed up drying after application. Plastic wrap can be used on the body to keep latex from soaking through and sticking to the skin. Be sure to keep fabric from folding while it dries or it will stick to itself and cause poor results. After final coat has dried, use latex polish or stardust to coat the surface to keep it from sticking together. You will now have a rewearable latex clothing.

Possibly latex paint could work for you too?

Unless you can turn me into a transparent black housecat, it ain't going to happen.

Spring Heeled Jack

I need a union suit, some gloves, boots and a big felt star on my chest. And probably I would have to shave my head.

Definitely doable. You just gotta say what the heck and go for it! :D

I'm sorry... costume?
So you're costume isn't a costume at all, huh? It's just everyday wear? That's awesome, but what does your alter-ego wear?

Where do I start?

More to the point ... avatar?

My attire is not named "Don," and I do not intend to rename it thus in the foreseeable future.  "Don," as many sensible gentlemen know, is a notorious domesticity for "Donald," one of the northern clans--and any sensible gentleman will tell you that nothing of any value ever strode forth from Scotland, and certainly not on two legs.

To address the donning and avatar questions---as taken from dictionary.com
Avatar: 1. Hindu Mythology. the descent of a deity to the earth in an incarnate form or some manifest shape; the incarnation of a god.
2. an embodiment or personification, as of a principle, attitude, or view of life.
3. Computers. a graphical image that represents a person, as on the Internet.

I was referring to the latter two, or if you play Magic: The Gathering then the avatar in that game would apply here also. Also if you've watched The Pickup Artist on VH1, Mystery encourages his protégés to create avatars of themselves.

Donned: 1. To put on (clothing).
2. To assume or take on: donned the air of the injured party.

There and who said you don't learn something new everyday :P

And hey, I have an Uncle named Donald WHO is Scottish, so thanks very much, I'm gunna go have a cry  :(

PS: All in good fun, it's pretty late here so I have a weird sense of humor

Tomato

Yeah, here's another "not going to happen". The costume would be cool (and If I ever get a chance to I'd be more then happy to) but I doubt the head is doable, for some reason.

Intensity

look at how cool my avatar's costume is... designed by figurefan years ago-  think I could ever pull it off in real life?
Although I am darn good looking, lol, I doubt I could wear it without having people think I was nuts.

BUT... when my avatar was simply named Jubileefan, haha, the costume consisted of jeans, a grey track jacket with blue piping, tennis shoes, and sunglasses--- something that I wore on more than one occasion in real life.  I loved it.

Mr. Hamrick

let's see i would need a white suit and a purple shirt and mask with a huge jack nicholson like grin.

i can get the suit and the shirt but mask might be a bit hard to come by.
