WAV vs. MP3? What's going on, and why won't it work?

Okay, I have been having no luck with voicepacks. Panther Guns is sending me EZVoice in pieces, but I don't have them all yet. Anyway, I tried to see if, once again, I could install some voicepacks. I tried six, and four work: Superman, Batgirl (do not work), Arnold Schwartzenegger, Jack Nicholson, Bruce Lee, and James Earl Jones (do work). I can't even get "superguy" to show up in the list of voices. FFEdit insists that my attempts at creating voice files is successful, but I have no evidence of it in the case of Supes and BG.
So I decided to try out the files and see if they worked in MediaPlayer or something, and they did. While I was at it, I realized something: the files for Superman and Batgirl were in MP3 format, while the rest were in WAV format. Is this supposed to create a problem? Did I leave something unchecked that I should not have, or check something that I shouldn't? What's going on?

Also, should each set of voice files be in a separate folder, or just tossed in the same one?

Before I start, as an aside, the EZVoice Installer parts can be installed seperately, as long as you haven't installed anything else.... <_<  *realizes that you *have* installed other voices, and therefore, just made that last part of the statement stupid & irrellevant*

Both mp3's and wav's will work, as long as they're in the correct format.  The easiest way is to check some that work, and compare them to some that you're having problems with.  Check for Bit rate, stereo or mono, and I think that's it, but it couldn't hurt to pay attention to the rest of the details (you can find all this out by right-clicking the file, then clicking Properties, in case you didn't already know).

The files will work in pretty much *any* location, as long as they proper path is used in the speech.txt.  I prefer seperate folders, just to keep things organized & tidy.

To get the new voice ID's to show up as available in game, make sure you're unchecking the Campaign Only box.

If you're still having problems with it, I can be available to try & talk you through it in more detail in the Chat Shack probably around 3 p.m., Pacific Time.  I'll check the thread here to see if that will help.

Since I've been batting zero on voice installation, I figured that I'd just delete the voices I'd added and add them back, provided that it worked.

By the way, is there a way to keep the template from showing up in your list of built-in characters, or are you stuck with it?

I think you're stuck with it. I always add "ZZ_" to the front of the template and character names for voice packs, so at least they're all together at the bottom of the list.

For FFvsTTR, under the template tab, you can set "mock" to 1 under Attribute Overrides. Of course, it requires that the character has a template entry.
