Interesting...how taunt, and aggro, actually works.

Which explains why blasters who drop AoE's at close range get the snot pounded out of them even with a Tank in the thick of things... :)

The big revelation here, to me, is the range thing. I don't think we'd ever been told that. It makes total sense, but it just never occurred to me.

Wait a second... did Posi just give us... NUMBERS?!

Not just range but apparently a whole lot of other factors that are cumulative, it seems from my reading.  But yeah, the range thing is big.  It helps explain why enemies will rush right past a tank in order to engage a blaster or whoever... if they don't pass close enough and the tank doesn't do anything extraordinary to grab aggro right as they're closing in, they ignore the tank, get out of effective range of punchvoke, and the blaster/other is on their own.  All other factors being more or less equal, the blaster will tend to grab more aggro as he does more damage to more enemies, yes?  Once the tank is up close and personal he's going to tend to grab and keep aggro as long as he's doing damage... but he's going to have a harder time pulling foes off damage-dealers when the foes are already in melee range.

It would be nice to know what all of the factors are and how they're weighted, at least in general.   But it gives me a better perspective on how to tank.  Also what to do when I'm not a tank and taking hits... run to the nearest tank :)
