I'm finally getting around to doing Sue in  :ffvstr: and thought I'd use the FFVTR's remote active defenses to allow Sue to shield the other team members. The only problem being remote active defenses are broken for Rumble Room characters in FFVTR:

So how do people get around this and have Sue protect her teammates? Is there some clever way in FFX? Using Enchanter or something?

Yes, there's an attribute that allows characters to shield others. I don't remember the command off hand, so you might wanna give the ffx manual a glance through. IIRC, I gave the attribute to both Jean and Susan in my mods.

*note: this is assuming I didn't dream up certain attributes. *

Thanks--I finally figured it out. You have Sue shoot a (for example) Rally the Troops beam at the teammate, then use FFX to swap Shield in for Rally the Troops.

(I couldn't find it in the FFX docs because for some reason I thought I was looking for an attribute. So I downloaded TaskmasterX's hero files to see how he did it. Which of course is what I should have done in the first place. )

There is an attribute. I just went through my files and it was guardianP and guardianM (physical and mental).

QuoteATTRIB_GUARDIANM_01, guardian (mental)

ATTRIB_GUARDIANM_DESC_01, (not multiplayable) your telepathic talents are powerful enough that you can temporarily shield other members of your team from psychic attack

QuoteATTRIB_GUARDIANP_01, guardian (physical)

ATTRIB_GUARDIANP_DESC_01, (not multiplayable) you are able to prject a protective forcefield around team members and passer-by to shield them from physical attack

But the swap option works just as well.

[edit] It wasnt in the manual as the attribute was removed prior to ffx 2.0 (but left in ffx.py), but it was re-added in ffx 2.4 along with ffx customization options in control centre. In ffx3, however, it was left in but ffx control centre wasn't able to customize it any longer (meaning you had to do some minor python work to customize the shield fx).

Taskmaster X also did an attribute for Active defense with HP that can be remotely used.

Turns out there's a good reason I wasn't finding Guardian ... it's not mentioned in the table of attributes in the docs!  :banghead: But sure enough there it is in the game and it works. Now I know and knowing etc. etc. Thanks for the tip!
