GGiant asked the same question just the other day:

(Also note you don't have to go to Irrational's site to get those meshes--you already have 'em! They're stored in a file called art.ff in your FFVTR installation.)

 You know, you'd think that if I were bright enough to look it up and copy the link then I'd also be bright enough to read who started the thread. You'd think.

what steps do we take to open the art.ff files and extract the needed meshes.ive done it before but cant remember how.

GogglesPizanno

All the *.ff files are really just zip files.
Rename it to ff.zip and then you should be able to open it up like you would any other zip file (Windows, winzip, winrar etc...)

Can the game find it under that name? (I've always renamed art.ff to art.zip, copied what I've needed, then renamed it to art.ff again.)

Well i left out the rename it back to .ff step

But now that you mention it, while Im 99% certain it wouldn't work, it might be fun to try.

The other approach is just to right click on the .ff file and chose "Open with..." then choose your unzip program. If you click the "Always use the selected program to open this type of file" checkbox, then Windows will know that .ff files are really .zip files and use your unzipper to open them when you double-click. I find that the be the most straightforward way to do things, since it requires no renaming from .ff to .zip and back.
