Can anyone give me the issues that this happened.  Poor Brock.

Podmark

It was in Marvel Knights Spider-Man, within the first 12 issues by Mark Miller.

While I'm one of the few guys who loves Eddie Brock (especially when portrayed as the unfriendly neighborhood stalker) Im surprised that I like the Venom Scorpion. I think that Gargan is a nice middle ground between Cletus Cassiday and Brock, it's nice to see the suit on a hardened criminal.

Eddie has cancer and the symbiote didn't want him anymore. So, Eddie sold it to a mobster, and it ended up with Gargan (still unclear how that happened).

Eddie is in the hospital battling his cancer. When Aunt May was in there comatose after being shot, Eddie killed a nurse who was in his way, donned a black costume he had bought, and was about to kill May (in a delusional state) but decided against it. He then tried to leap to his death in a fit of guilt after slitting his wrists, but Peter saved him.

I would think the events of the BND saved the nurse, at least, as it was a direct result of May being there.

Not positive, but I think he got it in an auction.

the suit was bought by a mobster for his son, and when the son tried to kill spider-man the suit left him for being weak.

I have a feeling this isnt the last of eddie brock.

BUT!
is this still counting due the idiotic deal Pete and MJ made with Mephisto?
anything in JMS's run and the side books (friendly, spectacular) are off the record until referenced or specifically stated to be in-continuity by Joe or one of the writing teams. According to Joe, everything happened the same so Eddie should still be in the hospital (he was there before may's shooting, so that's not a big error).

Question:

Marvel knights isn't usually in continuity, so is any of this referenced in the actual 'in-continuity' books?

Yes, Marvel Knights Spider-Man was fully in continuity. It was simply supposed to be a more adultish Spider-Man book, though it was more or less the same.

Mac Gargan as Venom appeared in Beyond, Civil War, and is a regular in Thunderbolts.

one thing at annoys me is that no one can settle on a design for him it changes with artists and sometimes with bloody pannels

thanks, sir Pod. I'm aware of his existence as I've read stuff with him in it, I just don't recall his origins ever being referenced in any book I had read. Though, I'm not a huge thunderbolts fan, so, if it was mentioned again there...I missed it.

thanks for clearing that up for me prev, im all confused about the new arc :S

I'm not sure what issue Mac Gargan got the symbiote, but he is on the current T-Bolts team.

Since I was bored and had a few moments to kill... I decided to dig up some origin bits for the New Venom.

QuoteMac became Venom in Marvel Knights: Spider-Man #8 & 10 (2005)

QuoteDying of cancer, Eddie Brock decided to auction for charity to the highest bidder the alien symbiote from which he derives his powers as Venom.

After being purchased by New York mobster Don Fortunato to be used by his son Angelo, thinking him weak, the alien symbiote abandoned its new host leaving him to fall to his death after a short and murderous career.

It then sought out a new host that shared both its hatred of Spider-Man as well as the will and experience of a seasoned criminal. Mac Gargan returning to his apartment after a recent kidnapping of Aunt May and intimidation of Spider-Man, only to find the symbiote which made Gargan a proposition to be its newest host. The one-time Scorpion eagerly accepted the offer, and was thus transformed into the monstrous Venom.

After an elaborate plan paid off and the Green Goblin was out of prison, the Goblin led Spider-Man and the Black Cat into a direct confrontation with the newly formed Sinister Twelve, which included the new, more powerful Venom among its ranks.

Venom and the Twelve very nearly defeated Spider-Man before the Fantastic Four and a small faction of the Avengers headed by Captain America joined in, leading to the eventual defeat of the Twelve.

In the midst of the battle Osborn escaped, with the full intention to murder Peter's wife, Mary Jane. Spider-Man soon followed only to be stopped by Venom. The two foes continued to battle high above on New York's rooftops. After catching Gargan off balance Spider-Man dropped a condemned building on the new Venom, ending the battle. Venom was arrested and sent to Ryker's. He promised Spider-Man he would never reveal his identity, as that was his only leverage against him.

More recently, Gargan has escaped prison. He journeyed to Battleworld, along with a ragtag group of characters including the likes of Henry Pym, Gravity, the Hood, and others, in order to enter a contest arranged by the Stranger posing as the Beyonder. Shortly thereafter, Venom was approached by a joint CSA / S.H.I.E.L.D. taskforce, and joined the new Thunderbolts team which was formed during the Civil War to stop unregistered heroes.

Hope that clears up some questions...

Is Eddie still alive?

Yes, he's in the hospital with cancer...or he was. Anything can be changed with BND in effect, but until then, his old stats/quo applies.
