So I gotta say, it looked way more entertaining than I was expecting (I still am not sold on them needing a 4th film, but hey.) However, is it just me, or does it look like the film relies a little too heavily on CGI. In my mind part of the charm of the previous movies was that it was all kinda low tech. No amount of CGI is gonna make us forget Harrison Ford is old. So why try?

Sorry, I'm at work and the web filter is horrendous when trying to get to anything media related (a co-worker brought it in from home for us to watch)

I was pretty impressed with the trailer myself.. definitly takes place years after Last Crusade and most likely will have Indy being forced to pick up his whip and fadora again on behalf of the government screwing up big time.
Of those who did catch the trailer.. You will notice that Indy and his friend break into a very familar military warehouse (i.e. "We've got our best men working on it right now") and that if you freeze the screen you will see labels on the boxes marked "Top Secret" and "Roswell, New Mexico". So while Indy is trying to keep a Nazi-Looking female from getting her hands on something that our government is hiding he is once again forced into his role of saving the world with his son tagging along for the ride.

Plus rumors have it that Lucas wanted to have a conspiracy/alien story for the final Indy film but Harrison Ford and Spielburg wanted to find the perfect script to do it and it took this long to get everyone to agree on it. I'm taking bets that this film will touch on all previous Indy movies in some big fashion (like the already revealed Warehouse scenes) that will be huge surprises to fans who have been waiting on this sequal for a very long time.
Well I will be there for the midnight show...Im just trying really hard to keep my inner 10 year old in check to at least minimize the potential for disappointment that has been heaped on us by most recent additions to loved franchises...particularly ones in which a certain "bearded filmmaker" has had a hand.
I noticed the Roswell thing as well, and given the title of the film (as well as one of the unused ones) and the history of the crystal skull stories, I always suspected it had the potential for some UFO type plot. Not my first choice to be sure. Which is weird considering all manner of supernatural magical out of this world stuff seems perfectly fine in an Indy film, but you mention Aliens, and suddenly it seems totally out of place (to me anyway).

I also hope they don't go to overboard on the references. Some funny little in jokes or nods to the previous films are cool, but I just hope its not the "sledgehammer bash you over the head with em" type. I think those types of jokes work way better when they are subtle and small.

Actually, Spielberg was very specific he didn't want too much CG. He's promised that Indy himself will never be replaced by a CG double, nor will there be any CG doubles of people in this film. However, stunt doubles will obviously take Harrison's place in quite a few shots.

The only "significant" CG element is that Indy's whip (when used in battle) will be CG due to changed safety policies.

Thats actually good to hear and is encouraging. Though that Car chase scene really looks like it was filmed on a green screen... but it may just be the quick shot is misleading or that the final FX aren't done yet.

Awesome.

Awesome awesome awesome I am so excited about this one. As far as I can tell, this will be an awesome year. Does anyone have a name for LeBeouf's character? Probably something Jones, I'm just curious if he maybe is named Montana or something like that.

Mutt Williams is the character's name.  And he looks more like a protege to Indy and not his son.

Jakew

A bit too much of Indiana Jones flying around for my liking.

And I know Shia LeBouf is Spielberg's chosen one but I hope the film doesn't focus too much on him.

ORLY? I guess I was wrong. Still exciting, and I really do hope Connery has at least a cameo amirite?

Protomorph

My, his whip is getting long.

He's pretty spry for a 62 year-old. He couldn't do half those moves when he was 50.

TheMarvell

This looks promising. I'm not keen on resurrecting this franchise, but it does look pretty good.

I gotta say this though: that alien/conspiracy idea makes me cringe. That's not Indiana Jones to me. Ancient relics and mysticism fits Indy. Not science fiction, but maybe that's just me.

I think the movie will not fall totally into Indy discovering an alien ship or civilization of little green men but more into how ancient civilizations were probably helped by extraterestrial technology (i.e. pyramid building, crop circles). Indy will probably be less then pleased when he discovers far more then a few of the supernatural artifacts that he unearthed will be in crates at that warehouse and have a realization that he might NOT be able to trust anyone other then his closest friends.

I really hope they don't go the alien route.  I'd much prefer the Crystal Skull just be what it mythically was, an object that allowed for clairvoyance, and something that Indy would definitely need to keep out of the wrong hands.

I think the Alien Route would be interesting.  Otherwise, the plot might be too simple and cliched, as you describe it.

Protomorph

Now we have to figure out how the Crystal Skull gets from wherever Indy leaves it, to buried in the desert where The Librarian can find it a few decades later.

I remember reading something about HF being too spry for the part.  He's in good shape and had to be told to
"act his age"
