No active defenses

I just noticed that all the computer controlled foes in the rumble room for  :ffvstr: don't use their active defenses (when they have them).  I don't know why I just noticed that after all this time.  Duh!  All the self controlled characters are just fine.  When I used to play in the  :ff: danger room it had the same problem (though  :ffvstr: is still a better rumble room all around).

Is anyone else experiencing this?  It may just be my custom characters.  I do distinctly remember Nuclear Winter using his ice armor in the rumble room and maybe Blitzkrieg using a active defense.  But I'm not entirely sure about the latter.

Odd.

It's AI related and you can get any and all characters to use shields by giving them custom AI using M25AI.

Dr.Volt

Well, that explains it then.  Is M25AI part of Dr. Mike's stuff???

stumpy

The M25 AI is the creation of (wait for it...) M25 and it is included in DrMike2000's (and later) FFX expansions. If you are running FFX 3.2, just make sure to run the FFX Control Centre after creating any new customs. Then, start the FFX mod and take those characters through the M25 AI Generator in the Rumble Room. That should get them up and running.

One thing to know about creating a M25 AI file for a character that has a active defense is that they will use the active defense all the time as long as they have the energy to use it.  So instead of attacking a opponent they will activate their defense.  So if you have a lot of characters with active defences battling it out, you will just have alot of charater sitting around with their defences on.

One way to fix this is to slightly modify the M@25file after its created.  You will see in the M25AI file a energy reserve at the bottom (low, medium, or high depending on the energy cost you gave the active defense)  That means the character will not take any actions that require energy until that reserve is met. And once that reserve is met they will use their active defence.  So if you give a character a active defence with a high energy cost they will activate their defence and not take any actions until their energy has returned and use it again for another active defense.  You can just delete the energy reserve line from the M25 file and the character will no longer sit and wait until his active defense reserve is met he will attack normally and use his defense less often.

If anybody has any other ways to fix this jump in.  Which another way is add a % in the active defense line but there is still the energy reserve that needs to be met.

.......hopefully I just didnt confuse you.....

Wow...sounds difficult.  I'll try that though.  Thanks for the insights, Agent!

I knew I would over explain myself, its really as simple as this, open up the m25AI file that is created by the generator and scroll to the bottom where the "energy reserve" is:

And remove the energy reserve lines:

But then you may actually like how AI files handles the active defences and just deregard this:

Not to mention that both m25 and Taskmaster (I believe?) have extensive guides/tutorials up that'll be most useful to you.

Coming back to this late...sorry.  But thanks!  I'll try that!
