As y'all know, I've had my issues with this show in the past.  However, I just wanted to post to say that the current season has been stellar: every episode so far has earned an A+ (and frankly, if there was a grade higher than A+, I'd give it to "My constant").

Anyone still watching?  What do y'all think about this season?

Podmark

Started watching the show mid-second season and it's been more or less my favorite since.

The new season is pretty interesting. I'm liking the new characters and the flashforwards are a very interesting device.

Jakew

Season Two wasn't that great, but Season 3 and the stuff so far in Season 4 has been fantastic. Is Brian K Vaughan still writing for the show?

Silver Shocker

I only got into the show this holiday season, when me and my family picked up the DVD sets, but I think it's a wonderful show. Definately my favourite show right now (dispite the writer's strike putting most shows I watch on hiatus, not because of it). Season 4 so far has been great in my opinion. I wasn't a huge fan of season 2 either, but so far the current season's got me eagerly anticipating each week's episode.

Lightning Bug

I've been watching since the pilot, and I'm really liking season 4 so far.  Good pacing of the episodes, nice trickle of answers, the story's moving forward, and plus it's interesting to see how these events (present and future) are effecting these characters we've really come to know (or think we know) over the last 4 years.

I've also started feeling a kind of over-protectiveness toward our Losties with the introduction of the "freighties."  Unlike the Others, who are also a part of Craphole Island, the freighties are totally alien, and yet seem to have all these answers they hold Sword of Damacles style over the heads of our Losties.  I don't know...it's hard to explain.  I can almost sympathize with Locke and his single-minded quest to preserve the status quo...

I haven't posted because I hadn't had a chance t watch the most recent episode and I was avoiding possible spoilers.

The episode from a week and a half ago (with Juliet's backstory) was too slow for my tastes. Not that there weren't some interesting reveals, but I feel like I already know enough about the Ben-Juliet dynamic.

Last week's episode was great. Obviously, the end was very sad, but I thought it was a great way to tell the story and I am still curious about how it happened. And, now we know who all of the Oceanic Six are. Plus I feel very satisfied that I guessed right when Ben gave his little tease last week about who his mole was.

BTW, I have enjoyed the flashforward scenes as a storytelling device this season, but I sort of feel an odd "closing in" effect. I mean, even though I think I read that there are a couple more seasons of the show, it feels a bit like the writers are writing the end already. Is anyone else getting that?

Podmark

I thought last week's ep was excellent, maybe my favorite of the season. The Juliet one was one of the weaker ones I think.

There's 2 more seasons of 16* episodes left, so the ending is coming. I love the flashforwards though, I think they make things much more interesting.

*because of the writer's strike shortened year I've heard that a couple extra episodes will be added onto at least next season.

I just finished watching Ji Yeon last night, so I totally understand wanting to avoid spoilers. :)

Yeah, I had guessed the mole's identity correctly as well...though I thought I was going to be upset about it because it seems kind of cheesy, but after watching the episode I didn't feel that way at all.  I'm really intrigued now about the sequence of events that has led to what we're seeing in the "present" timeline.

Yeah, I understand what you're saying about the flash forwards...while cool, it kind of comes close to being anti-climactic for me, like reading 50 pages ahead from where you are in a book then flipping back and trying to continue as usual.  Oh, and let me say this about the flash forward in Ji Yeon...
...I was really irritated about the trick the creators pulled with inserted Jin flashbacks into Sun's flash forward and making them seem contiguous.  That seemed like an awfully cheap stunt to pull, and detracted from the power of Sun's segments.  It just seemed a little "amateur-film-school-student" for me...but what do I know.  Yeah, now we have a some new tension and suspense about what's going to happen to Jin and when...but I just didn't like how it was presented in the context of the episode.
I think they're going to try and complete 8 episodes for this season, but I had heard that it was possible we might get the full 16, but there hasn't been an update that I'm aware of.  I hope so, though.  The truncated Heroes season was terrible, and really hurt the pacing/story going into the end of the volume.

I was pretty sure I knew who the mole was from the moment the mole was first mentioned.
It didn't help that his name has been in the opening credits since the first episode of the season. But I'm just really happy he's back, he's one of my favorites.
Definite 13 episodes this season, not 16.

hehehe...yeah, I noticed that too.  I also heard interviews with him on local radio, too, talking about his involvement this season.  I guess I was hoping maybe his reintroduction to the cast might have been different, somehow.  But I'm satisfied with the way things are going down at this point, so it's okay...

That's cool.  A side effect of all this, I think, has been more efficient story-telling...so hopefully that will continue and the remainder of the season will keep up this same pace.

Lightning Bug

I finally got to watch "Meet Kevin Johnson," and while it didn't punch me in the gut with how cool it was, I thought it served its purpose.  The flashback was a no-frills, tell everything type of deal which I enjoyed.  The big eye opener in this episode was the line thrown out by Tom in the alley...
"You can't die.  The island won't let you."  This was definately food for thought, and concerns just about everything that's happened on the island to date, including the crash itself (the island wouldn't let the survivors die when the plane went down for some reason?) and the appearance of allegedly deceased people who show up and talk to our heroes upon occasion.
I can also see why the producers didn't want this episode to be the season finale...
Between the missing helicopter from last episode and the hail of gunfire from the end of this one, it's pretty clear that it's go time for the military types aboard the freighter, and the first victims have been Karl and Danielle (I seriously hope Danielle isn't dead).  That's kind of a sorry mystery to end a season on.  I'm glad we only have to wait until the end of April.
Anyway...a pretty good episode but I'm anxious to see how the fallout from it affects the rest of the story.  Come on April 24!

Looking forward to the show's return.  Even though I've gone back and forth about the merits of 'flash-forwards', I've enjoyed this season a lot.  :)

My sister sent me this link.  I think it does a great job of capturing the general theme of the show, heh.
