Kitbasher's Korner

Most skinners do it, if for no other reason than to just see what something looks like ("I wonder what a Pink Lantern would look like?"). If it looks good, they have a new project; if it looks bad, they know not to ever do that again.

Here are some kitbashed skins done for the fun of it. Previously, I did kitbashed of versions of Green Lanterns from Altair IV, Gallifrey, and Mars. J'onn looked so good, I did a complete skin for him (although the kitbased version looked better. {sigh}). The following are cribbed from work by Valandar, Tommyboy, and Gryphon. Very little of the artwork is actually mine; the credit for these wonderful skins should, as always, go to the originators. None of them will ever be released, but maybe they wil give a chuckle or two, or inspire somone to do a "real" skin.

Here, we have the Sinestro Corps member that would probably cause Sinestro to watch is back most carefully, the GL from Dagoba, and two costumes (summer and winter formal?) for the GL of Paradise Island.

...and now I'm wondering what the rest of the JLA would look like as Green Lanterns...

Guardians:  Hey! What are you doing here?
Yoda:  <waves hand> Long time a Guardian been I have.
Guardians:  You have been a Guardian for a long time.
Yoda:  By the pool my room is.
Guardians:  You have the room by the pool.
Yoda:  See me later you will.
Guardians:  Alright, we'll see you later.

Sinestro:  Okay, recruits, there's going to be a lot of fighting and blood and chaos but we will prevail and bring order to the universe.  We shall spread our fear over the cosmos.  We shall cut a swath through the Guardians' puppets and then...
Doom:  Kill Richards!!! This is all his fault!
RICHARDSSSSSSS
Sinestro:  What?

Carravaggio

These are great, I'd like to see more of them actually.
Although I think Doom is one of those few rare characters that would be able to wield either a green or yellow power ring, I mean this is a guy who out tricked Mephisto, swaps his consciousness between bodies and survived a blast from the Infinity gauntlet. Can't think of too many characters I would rate as having as much willpower and fearlessness as Doom.
Love the green lasso on Diana, so appropriate :D

Interesting GL characters.  Yoda just need a GL Badge (Mask)

It is ok to show off kitbashed skins. A lot of people do it in the screenshot threads and what have you.

Everything is fine just as long as they don't release them, which this thread isn't even about.

I think this is a cool idea, actually. Good for people who want to do a quick mock-up and share it to get the creativity flowing.

Meh, I think what TUE means is that this might work, but it does have a huge potential for error... even with credit, some skinner that got kittbashed might spaz out about it. I dont think it's a big deal within the confines of a single thread though, especially if we keep it tightly controlled. *shrug* but what do I know, I only have one kitbash left anymore.

I figured that if you posted a pic of a skin in this thread, you are stating categorically that you did not do the work. The best thing would be to give credit where credit is due. The Wonder Woman GL's are a by product of another project I'm working on, but while I was at it, I decided to see just what Diana would look like in black, green, and white. The hard part was resisting the temptation to put two lantern symbols on her. I've cobbled together a Flash GL as well as a Spider-Lantern, mostly using Photoshop tricks to change the colors. I did something similar to a C6 Captain America skin to get a different version of The Adaptoid for real Cap to fight. I couldn't decide whether to make a Solar GL in a green suit or a gray one. I guess it will depend on if I go silver age or modern age. I think a combination lantern symbol and radiation symbil might look rather unusual. The Doom Yellow Lantern I did very soon after I learned about the Sinestro Corps War and read about "old villains" becoming members. I had his armor gold at one point, but changed it back to silver. I've had ideas for a Doc Ock and a Lex Luthor YL, although I now wonder if Lex would be an orange lantern instead. Kinda funny that The Hulk might be a Red Lantern...

I've debated starting this thread for some time. I have no wish to offend anyone, and if this thread does, the thing to do will be kill it. The first reactions were what I'd hoped for: amusement. Of coruse, those comments did not come from the people whose work I hijacked.

I have this crazy idea about taking all of Tommy's new multicolor Supermen, putting appropriate rings on their fingers, and lining them up in front of Sinestro. Sinestro would be saying "When I decided to force the prophecy to come true, this was not something I anticipated..."

my only concern would be newbies seeing the thread and not seeing that "disclaimer" and then thinking kitbashing was cool and start releasing their kitbashes.

Easy fix.  Everyone posting kittbased skins put READ FIRST POST or REREAD FIRST POST or REREAD DISCLAIMER or READ DISCLAIMER(ETC) in all of thier posts and we ( as a community) should be fine and unoffended.

~Z23~

DISCLAIMER:  Kitbased skins are NOT allowed (for release).  Unless you ONLY WISH TO PREVIEW a concept.  If you intend to release a kitbashed skin, you will be hunted down and burned at the stake(unless you weigh less than a small, small pebble that can float on water or are a duck or maybe an apple.{yes, a duck})  If you don't get the reference, don't get offened.  If you get the reference, laugh as I did writing it.  If you don't fall into either catigory, I am really sorry.

~Z23~,again please RE-READ ALL Disclaimers or possible Disclaimers.

Another thing to do might be put the pictures in a "Spoiler" link, with a disclaimer above.

I had not considered IPS's concern when I started this thread. I still feel that it might be fun, and maybe even useful, but do not want it to lead to wholesale theft of eveyone's work.
