HOLY CRAP WHAT IS THAT THING?

Click on the characters, then go down to the two small pictures of the hulks face at the bottom, and click back and forth between them.
That's one of the best sound bites ever.

Also this game looks identical to the last game.

Looks like Ultimate Destruction 2.0.  What do you guys think?

Definitely looks like a next-gen version of Ultimate Destruction. They even kept the same leap/jumping animations. What's actually piqued my curiosity is that it's being published under the Sega banner. Did Sega license the game engine Radical Entertainment developed for Ultimate Destruction (I thought Sierra had exclusive rights to it... it's the same game engine they're using for Prototype)? Or is this Sega's take on Radical's custom-built destruction and physics engine?

I'm torn, it's coming out for the PC & 360.

Woot!  Next-gen Ultimate Destruction looks awesome!

daerdevil

Looks like I can stop kicking myself for not getting Ultimate Destruction.

Must...resist...pre-order....

Sword

*looks up from preorder...* Umm, oops?

Yeah, this is on my supersized list of games to rent or own this year.

daerdevil

Not a whole lot new on the site, but I finally got that elusive copy of Ultimate Destruction to ward off me off until release time.  Man, did I miss out on that game!  I can barely put it down.  My one man Hulk MUA campaign will have to wait.  Best news is I had a buy one get one free coupon from Gamestop.  Ended up getting Hulk:UD and Indiana Jones and the Emperor's Tomb for $9.53 total!  Now I have an Indy game to play until Lego Indy comes out too.

TheMarvell

IGN had a preview of the game a week or two ago, and they specifically said that the game was no doubt a spiritual successor to Ultimate Destruction. That alone makes me want the game, but I'll still see what reviewers say first. About 98% of movie games completely suck, but hopefully this will be an exception.

JeyNyce

Pre-order from GameStop and you get the Red Hulk as an additional character.  Is that a good or bad thing?

captmorgan72

A very good thing. I want Red Hulk now! I wonder who Red Hulk is, I'm leaning towards Doc Samson.

Joe Fixit!!!!!!  My eyes are watering....I gotta get this game.

Been playing this beauty nonstop for hours now, my 360 is going to melt. Damn, what a awesome game, having a blast! The graphics are great and the hulk, oh the hulk looks so good!

JeyNyce

The game is very good, but I do have 1 small complaint: Rick is getting on my nerves!  Other than that, this game is sweet!

daerdevil

So how does it rate compared to Ultimate Destruction?  I've been playing the heck out of that one!

JeyNyce

If you love UD then you will like this one.  I wish Spidey 3 was like this.

Courtnall6

Picked it up today...went around the city wrecking stuff. Lot's of fun! I can't play too much until I see the movie though...hate to have it ruined.

I love the destructible buildings! The Empire State Building went down in no time

I also love the cars and poles sticking out of buildings after you throw them into them.

Also, anyone looking forward to using the Hulkbuster armour...you need to have a game save file from the Ironman game to unlock it.

style

The Trailer for the game looks dope! I wish we had a Hulk mesh in  :ff: that was similer to this game with the fingers and toes! That's what makes the Hulk, Hulk to me.

TheMarvell

the game is getting mediocre reviews. IGN says it's definitely a follow-up to UD, but they removed a lot more than they added, which is a shame. I want this game, but I'm thinking I'll wait until it's cheaper or rent it.

daerdevil

I think it's a case of UD being a tough act to follow.  Thanks for the feedback.  I like the fact that it's set in a better likeness of New York, and of course the eye candy is always welcomed, but I'm having so much fun with "Last Gen Hulk" that I'll probably hold out for a price reduction.  I wonder if having the Iron Man demo would suffice for unlocking Hulkbuster armor?  I'd rather not even rent that one.

electro

Play as Joe Fixit from the getgo has made this game so much fun to play - The ingame graphics are so much nicer to look at than UD & ultimatly the game play even thow watered down from UD is a blast to play & gives me some type of idea of how Champions Online might play as far as punching & leaping are concerned - this game wont win any awards for the cutsceens which are ussually just a picture of a cellphone or tape recorder which will be more than fine after you see how horrible the animated cutsceens are but, who cares about these just skip & start smashing - If they didn't make this a movie tie-in game then they probably would have had more time to make this sucker a true sequel to UD.

Graphics          - 8.5           (minus the cutsceens of course)
Gameplay         - 8.7
replay              - moderate
sound              - 7.0
story               - 1.0
bell & whistles   - 7.0             (would have been higher if the secret characters played any differently
                                        than the hulk)

tommyboy

It's definitely a fun game.
I'm playing on the PC, so I have no experience of Ultimate Destruction to compare with.
Although the graphics on the PC arent great, they are just about adequate. I wish they had ported the xbox360 version instead of the PS2 one, but whaddayagonnado?
Once the nifty Xpadder utility was configured, I could even play with a joypad (the PC version has very very little configuration options).
Definitely a blast seeing the Sanctum Sanctorum, Baxter Building etc, and knocking them down. Has me wishing the occupants would come out and fight too, that would be teh awesum. I guess that might have confused the movie only audience, even if they had the licence. Maybe I can re-skin the U-foes....
Anyway, fun game, not the best ever, but one of the better superhero related efforts.

The PS2 version is now $29 at our local Walmart.
