Invincibility - Fun or Not?

I guess this should go here... It's not a poll, but a question;

Do you think it would be fun at all to play a (nearly) invincible character? In, say, a mod for Freedom Force. That is their only power, however, and they are completely human besides that. I actually have at least one hero file up that uses this idea.

So, would it be fun? Interesting? Too easy? I'd like to hear thoughts.

And no, I'm not making a mod of original characters or anything... I've tried that a ton of times and every time I don't take the time to figure it out and get super bored.

It could be interesting if the mission objectives are not the default "have at least one team member outlasting the enemy".

Exactly. If you must save civilians and failing at that make you lose the mission or your nemesis can be some one who can fly or something and you must find interesting ways of defeating him.

Well... I love playing with Mr. Audacious :)

Mr. Audacious is neat because he also has a massive area ignite power. It sends him flying but he's okay by the end.

So, if you had some sort of flying enemy and you fail the mission if you, say, damage too much property? You'd just lose if he was the only one left. Might as well restart mission.

Anybody else have good ideas to make a near-invulnerable character be fun in gameplay?

Conduit

This could definitely be fun if you're creative enough.

In general, you'd want to be sure to include enemies with powers that temporarily take Mr. Audacious (or whatever hero it is) out of the fight.  High knockback, high stun, freezing, stasis, mental blank, and hypnotism are all good options, and I'm sure there are several others.

A few specific examples:

A mission with a time limit and plenty of enemies that try to prevent you from doing whatever you have to do within the time limit.  You could also have an enemy that grabs something you need and runs off, forcing you to chase him down and defeat him quickly.

Similarly, any mission where you have to prevent the enemies from doing something (like the last Mr. Mechanical from FF or the Strangers mission where the army invades while Anenome and Devil Doll are on the astral plane) should work just fine.

A mission where the objective requires the survival of another hero.  The other hero should be strong enough to hold their own in a fight, but still vulnerable.  Enemies should spawn at a good rate in locations all over the level, so you can't just leave the other hero behind while Mr. Audacious slowly takes out all of the enemies.

For a boss fight, you could give the boss an ability that gives Mr. Audacious a status effect that he can't escape on his own.  I'm thinking of something like the crystal prison from FFX, only while the other heroes can escape easily and break other people out, Mr. Audacious himself can't break out of it.  If Mr. Audacious is stuck in this status effect and all of the other heroes are KOed, the mission is failed.  The boss should use this ability sparingly to keep the fight interesting.
