You know, he's actually pretty hot for a digital construct.

Marvel and Joker look really good too.  Don't know about game play, but this MK game has some of the better character design in the series.

Just a few hours ago a panel for Midway's MK vs DC was held...

Highlights include..

Boon then gave the announced roster to date, on the DC side: Batman, Superman, Flash, Catwoman, and Shazam. And on the MK side, Scorpion, Sub Zero, Sonya, Shang Tsung and Liu Kang.

For San Diego, however, he was ready to announce four more. On the MK side, Jax, and Kitana, and to the whoops and hollers of fans in attendance, DC’s Green Lantern (image shown looked like Hal Jordan) and the Joker.

One fan pleaded that if Aquaman makes the cut, will they treat him with respect? The audience laughs and Boon asked back, “What does Aquaman eat?” but wouldn't confirm his inclusion.

Jax was a no-brainer, didn't figure we would see Kitana with Sonya and Catwoman being announced.

Actually, this takes place between MK 2 & 3 so that's why Liu Kang is still alive.

Gravy, and I thought MK2 transitions were muddled before...they just keep adding more and more games to that particular storyline. Just call it elseworld and leave it at that. ^_^

Not that I know of, but I suspect that since the MK side has two female characters, there's gonna be 2 on the DC side.  My money's on Wonder Woman (with a slim chance of Black Canary s she sould fit the venue too).

While this game does take place between MK2 & 3 it's also a "What If..." game.

Boon said that this is an alternate universe and nothing will be reflected in the MK kontinuity,

Heck, if they can balance Supes and Cap Marvel then they could find a way to fit Hal in. ;)

Of course Hal is in there. Two definates Wonderwoman and Green Lantern. One, you cant have anything DC without the big three. If Batmans in and Supes is in, Wonderwoman is sure to follow. And two, with all the glowing powers of the Mortal Kombat combatants in the game, Hal's a shoe in!

Actually, if he's going to be in MK, Aquaman would do best to have the harpoon.  It would suit the environs.

Wonder if Boon ever read the Namor vs. Aquaman fight?  Love how that one ended.  (dang was hoping to find the frame online, but no  :( )

Yeah, the harpoon certainly fits MK more, but I just hate it so much..... :P  Classic Aquaman just looks SOOO much cooler.  Anyway, there IS this:

Boon said there won't be much as far as alternate costumes go. Apparently the process to get a costume "approved" by DC is a long vigorous one. They would rather use the time elsewhere, like in the story mode.

I hope they find the time to throw in some alternate looks. :(

The hook hand look has been the standard in the popular media for a few years now. Us old timers remember the classic Aquaman but kids these days remember him from Justice League when he had the hook.

I've seen people on the Midway boards mention Cyrax. I know Boon likes to mess with fans minds but I would find it difficult to believe that's Cyrax.

I agree with the fact that they said DCU heroes won't kill but that still feels like Aquaman to me. That's just my opinion and I could be wrong (and often am).

Well, Green Latern and Jax were revealed at Comic Con but have not been revealed on the site.  I imagine they will be the next two renders revealed. 

I suspect the last DC one will be Wonder Woman.  Too many MK people to guess from.  I could see Cyrax though being a logical one to use, though.  Well, logical in that the "robotic ninja group have not been pulled from.  However, the more obvious one is RAIDEN.  And would make sense since Wonder Woman and Raiden are both "mythological deities".

There is a rumor of additional MK and DC characters being available for download.  I suspect this will be based on how well the game sells.  It would make sense to have a few unlockable DC and Marvel characters but who?

I vote for Black Canary, Aquaman, Darkseid, and Lady Shiva for the DC group.

Who knows about unloackables for the MK group.

Well, MJB, I don't know about that.  He does have a high visibility from JLU, but I would argue that the classic Aquaman look is still very present in our culture's pop-conscious.  They even have him in the new Superfriends line.  Either way, I imagine the new Brave and Bold toon will likely bring that classic look to an even higher level of awareness.

I hope so. I imagine that if I were to show a pic of the JLU "hook" Aquaman my 9 year old would immediately know who he is. If I showed him a "classic" pic, I'm not sure he would know who he is. And my kid was raised by a nerd. :P
