Anybody else get this?

The game itself is pretty hard if you're bad at action-RPG's, which I am, but the humor more than makes up for it.  Plus, steampunk is always cool.  And, being a Penny Arcade fan, it was pretty awesome to see myself go into battle alongside Gabe and Tycho.

$20 is a little steep, so I can't wholeheartedly recommend it unless you are a fan. They'd been way better off pricing it at $9, like the Sam and Max series - then it'd be a must have.

Still, looking forward ot the next installment. Am I alone in this?

cool, i never knew about this at all, thanks,  i really love steampunk. and i love episodic games too.  (must finish sam and max season two!!)
i'll dl the demo to see if this is worth it.

I thought the demo was pretty fun, but in no way am I paying 20 dollars for an XBL Arcade Game. I'd much rather use that money towards a brand new game I can pick up at the store instead. It should have been 10 dollars (or 800 ms points).

Oh, I agree. Its not as good as Sam and Max and its twice the price.  Plus, I have to say that Gabe's snotty attitude about it on the forums over there (He basically posted "We think it's worth $20. If you don't, go away.") has made me lose a bit of respect for them.

I had $20 extra dollars, so I got it. If I don't have $20 when the next installment comes out in October, I wont.  If it was $10, I'd probably find a way to get the money to get it.

Tried out the demo. The humor and the visual style was great (really liked that you could customize your avatar, and then they'd show up in the cutscenes and stuff). Combat was a little too hectic for my tastes, though. Trying to control 3 characters, with different attacks, items, etc. without being able to pause the action (is there a pause button? I didn't see one) was just too much. I hope it catches on, though... I generally like these Japanese-style RPGs, and I'd like to see more of them made for the PC.

No, no pause button. The current attack will play out and then all attackers will pause if you select the inventory button, however.

I think it's a great game but certainly in the wrong market. It would easily fit in with Game Tap (free) or Steam (a la Team Fortress) but dropping it as a single $20 dollar game is just not a good buisness plan.

I am pretty impressed with this game... and knowing that it's part of a four episode season,  i really think $20 per episode is a bit overpriced...
however,  i probably will get the whole game if they release a season bundle, like Sam and Max did.
i love the fact that i bought the whole season of sam and max for like 35 dollars,  and i also got the first episode of season 2 free.   (i also bought both bone games,  but i'm not sure i'm too interested in strong bad)

i do love the japanese rpg style of rain slick,  and of course steampunk is awesome,  but i just wish that they stuck to the theme more... its supposed to be 1922??  the dialogue just screams 2003 to me though. (i know it's 2008, but i think their snarky witticisms and that type of bro-speak really has its roots in the early 00's, and it just reminds me of college days)

little off topic, but speaking of Sam and Max, does anyone know if they plan on releasing a "Season Two" box set? People said they'd never do that with Season 1 and you HAD to get gametap to get it, but not even a month after the last episode released, they announced a retail box to buy (which I prefer). So are they doing that with 2 as well?
