My PB hits 50 or why I hate PuG's...

I don't recall the exact month I rolled my Peace Bringer on Virtue. I know it was sometime before January. Anyway earlier tonight he hit the big 5-0.

Shortly after I started concentrating on him I discovered that it is really hard to solo a PB. I depended on PuG's to get anything done. I don't know if it's just me or what but it seems that PuG's are hard to come by on Virtue. Especially before level 40.

Once I did find a PuG I soon discovered that they can be horrid no matter what server you play on.

A couple of examples...

1) Leader forms team and then remembers he needs to hit the auction house. Team waits for what seems to be forever. When the mission gets started the leader drops out before mish complete for a bs reason.

2) AFK players. 'Nuff said.

3) Tanks who refuse to aggro first.

4) ((Role players who aren't role playing.)) ((Thus they ALWAYS talk like this.))

5) Kids who turn team chat into their own little cyber playground. I left a team because the one "girl" member was teasing all the children on our team. Too raunchy for a toon that I created with my (then) 8 year old son.

6) Kheld prejudice.

7) Team members who rush to fight a mob before you have finished with your current mob.

8) 50's that complain about debt. WTF?

I could go on but you get my point.

My son and I rolled this toon so we would have something to enjoy together. He hasn't been around for a lot of Universo's career due to school but each time he is around he asks about the progress and wanted to try out his new powers.

Midnight

I'm sorry for any part I had in Universo's anguish. And congratulations.

GhostMachine

Yeesh! I've never had any PuGs quite that bad on Freedom OR Virtue (then again, none of my Virtue toons are higher than lvl 10, so that could have something to do with it).

Gratz on hitting 50. :)

(I don't find my PB really hard to solo on; my Warshade, however, is. All you have to do is remember not to use the Nova form much when soloing, as the squishiness and aggro will get you killed dead quickly)

AncientSpirit

Congrats on hitting 50!

Sorry for you pain, but I must admit that I enjoy reading about some of the more interesting journeys to the 50 destination.   Thanks for sharing.

Kommando

Gratz on 50 - I can sympathise though I have to say my PB had some nice PUGs along the way (not to mention quality playing artillery for Dirk), even if my spawned Shadow Cyst crystals were the cause of more than one team wipe.

MJB

Uni had more than his fair share of good PuG's. Most were bad thus the list. :P

Verfall

You got one hell of a tolerance for pain. Everything you mentioned is the exact reasons why my khels die off by the late 20's. Compared to the awesomeness of SoA's, khels are pathetic.

MJB

Well SoA's didn't come along until Uni was in his late 30's or early 40's. Once I lock in on a toon it's hard for me to switch gears, no matter how awesome SoA's are. ;)

El Condor

Felicidades on 50, Em. I don't hear of many folks taking their khelds to 50, so kudos on that.  :)

My personal solution to PuGs is to always be the leader and form them myself. Always. Yeah, it's more work, but it's worth it. When you're in charge of the make-up of the team and get a sense of how to find quality players, the experience is remarkably better (most of the time ).

Oh, and SoA's are indeed awesome!

Agreed about the SoAs.  However I had a wicked time 50ing my PB.  Smaller teams often work better, unless the PuG is solid enough to handle Shadow Cyst Crystals.  They work nice in groups with no tank and quantum flight lets you draw the alpha off a group (I never took the dwarf form), and in groups with a good tank you become a mobile artillery platform.

I went for tri-form and by the later levels I was really regretting that decision. I didn't slot any of the Dwarf moves and by the mid to upper 40's my Dwarf couldn't tank a mob let alone a eb/av.

If I ever decide to run around with him again I'll probably respec out of Dwarf.

Ouch! No wonder you had trouble soloing.

Dwarf form is awesome, and I used it a lot when soloing. It can't be affected by any status effects other than slow and energy drain and you have more hit points in Dwarf form (and yes, the Essence Boost hps do affect the Dwarf), which makes it great for tanking. And it has its own version of solar flare for knocking down a group of mobs and teleport for getting past annoying situations on a team (ie, teammates who get in your way or catching up if you fall behind). The only real drawback is that is moves slow.

I dropped Nova form in the mid-20s and my soloing ability on Shining Silver went waaaaaay up. Then it really sored when she gained Light Form. Light Form is great, but risky to use.

My Warshade is harder to solo on than my Peacebringer. I could pretty much solo on my PB right at the start, but had trouble soloing on my WS until about lvl 16 or so.

Bujin

I played Shiloah as a tri-form all the way to 50 - less because it was an effective playstyle than because I just thought shapechanging was cool.  :)

I enjoyed playing so him so much that I'm considering running a single-form PB - which is big for me considering that I have almost never run the same type of character twice.
