Howdy guys, I've mentioned before that I'd like to include specific mission art in the DCUG, just like the fake comic covers in FF itself, and the classic comic covers in mods like Teen Titans and Tommy's LSH.  I've been collecting likely covers as I come across them for many of my eventual campaigns, but I don't have anything for the JLA campaign.  I was hoping I could appeal to the comic knowledge of the community in the search for appropriate materials.  For those of you who don't know, the storyline involves the White Martian invasion.  I need covers with the following, preferably from the JLA comic itself:

Martian Manhunter fighting White Martians/facing a shadowy menace on mars/in caverns
Batman in a hi-tech setting, fighting aliens/shadowy menace, maybe being hunted (mystery a plus)
Superman fighting aliens in Metropolis, maybe with Jimmy Olsen in jeopardy
Aquaman tearing through a military base (preferably US military)
Green Lantern fighting aliens/shadowy menace on the moon/in space
Batman, MM, Flash sneaking around/fighting aliens
Superman, Aquaman, WW, GL fighting aliens in a city/Metropolis
League United (Aquaman, Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, Wonder Woman, Martian Manhunter/fighting in alien setting

Thanks for any help guys, I really appreciate it!

With a  bit of Photoshoppery (yes, I just made a word up) you could even select useful panels, rewrite the text balloons and add titles, creating a new 'cover' image. I think this would increase your chances of finding the appropriate imagery.

True Carr, and I've considered this, but I DEFINITELY don't have the time to undertake it, and I'd hate to ask anyone else to do so for me.

The problem you'll run into with most of those is that most JLA covers featured the team, rather than a single character.  I can probably find something to fill the last one; I might be able to find something for the single Superman & Batman ones, but they'd almost certainly be from their own titles.  GL shouldn't be too hard, but I don't have much coverage there (also, did you have a specific GL in mind.....I'm guessing Hal).  The Superman team shot might be possible, but the Batman team might not be doable (without image manipulation).  I'll see if I have time this afternoon to take a look.

Not sure this is what you are looking for but maybe will help.  Many covers to the JLA here.   :rickbm

Well, that pretty much covers everything I have.  ;)  Especially since I don't think you want any of the JLI/JLE, etc., stuff.

BentonGrey

Thanks for the responses guys.  Yeah PG, I figure that may be a problem.  I imagine that I'll have to resort to the characters individual titles to find something appropriate, and while the GCD is the source I expected to use, I simply don't have the time to do too much searching myself.  Any help you can give me would certainly be appreciated! ^_^

Panther_Gunn

Any particular incarnation of the JLA you'd prefer?  Would you lean away from anything after #261 (the end of the first title), or is the current title acceptable.  What about the JLI/JLE era?

BentonGrey

Well, in an ideal world, I'd like the art styles to not be TOO drastically different, but I'm fairly open to various incarnations.  The characters are more important than the era, I suppose.  Also, I should state the GL is Hal, and not the others yet.

Here's what I've found so far (I've only done JLA and Superman searches):

MM?, #230: .http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=39064&zoom=4

Batman?, #26 J.L.A.: http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=46201&zoom=4

Superman #128: http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=14974&zoom=4

aliens in city?, #169: http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=33575&zoom=4

generic JLA splash (Perez), #217: http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=37655&zoom=4

bonus, #250: http://www.comics.org/coverview.lasso?id=41379&zoom=4

(apparently you don't need to use the [url] paramater for them to turn into links.  If this constituts as hotlinking, please tell me, and I'll list them in a different manner.)

Finding a cover with Supes fighting aliens in/above a city proved to be harder than I thought.  I also didn't really look through any of the current incarnation of JLA, as the art style is drastically different than everything else that came before it.  Some match pretty close, some are not so good, but included for consideration.  And, as Carr said, some photoshoppery could always be done to get it closer to what you want (and may need to be done, anyway).

That MM cover is PERFECT!  The first Superman cover should work pretty well, and #169 might do the job as well.  As for the others, I'm afraid we're going to run into the issue that the League expanded its membership really quickly, so all these great covers have characters that haven't joined the League yet in my story.  I'll have to consider it for a while.  This cover might actually work for the second to last mission, as the Martians use big walkers as war machines:

I could maybe help you out with some minor touch-ups, too. Like if you want that martian fightin J'Onn to be white, or you need smaller subtitles on covers removed, etc.

For example, that cover you just showed? I could remove the white box, and make the fella inside white and a bit more "martiany."

BentonGrey

Those would both be of great help Unko!  I'm going to try and do some work on finding covers today, so I'll post my results this afternoon.

BentonGrey

Well, I think I've found a likely candidate for the Batman one.  I think this is significantly ominous and mysterious:

Unko, if you'd be willing to make that hand a bit more white, it should work quite well.  I have feelers out on the Aquaman cover, and I'm going to search more modern JLA issues for the 6th mission

UnkoMan

Sure. Send me a PM letting me know what you'd like in that text box (since it would take some trouble to remove).
