While there was alot of news at SDCC about Final Crisis and other DC projects...

The biggest news was the announcement of Archie Heroes and Milestone officially being merged into the DC Universe which is something people have been wishing for - finally seeing Static Shock having team ups with DC Heroes outside of Justice League Animated.

What is Archie Heroes?
QuoteFor those who don’t know them, “Archie heroes” surely brings up all the wrong mental images. This isn’t Archie, Jughead and the gang dressing up as superheroes – “Archie heroes” refer to the superheroes created prior to Archie and published by MLJ Comics in the ‘40s through the ‘60s. The roster of characters include the first patriotic superhero, The Shield (he beat Captain America to the newsstands by 14 months in Pep Comics #1, January 1940), Jaguar, The Fly, Hangman, Black Hood, The Comet, The Web, the group called The Mighty Crusaders, and more.

And what about Milestone?
QuoteRight. They’re coming back, and are coming right into the forefront, and right into the big storylines in the DC Universe. The great thing is, we have Dwayne McDuffie who is one of the owners and creators of the Milestone characters working for us and also of course, writing Justice League of America, so he’s going to finding ways to incorporate the characters into the storylines that are going to be unfolding within Justice League.

I am actually pretty excited about this as I have always loved the Archie and Milestone heroes; particularly The Fly.  Sure it was a blatant Shazam! knock off but so what?  Tom Troy/The Fly was insanely cool and with art by Steve Ditko?  You couldn't lose.  The appeal was that they actually let him age too.  Tommy Troy grew up to be Tom Troy and still continued the superheroics...though I have to say that the Impact version of the character really had the cooler costume.
