well im trying to put a set of male_basic compatible meshes on renegade's male_teen_12 mesh, but it causes the arms, legs and neck of the mesh to stretch. i ran them through the nif converter, which did nothing (as expected).

does anyone know how i can fix this?

I don't think you can fix that. Somewhere there is a site with a keyframe swap page that has some fairly common and simple ones, along with illustrations. Characters stretched out to great lengths, or packed down into a block... weird stuff.

I saved it as an archive and refer back to it occasionally.

I'm going to go out on a limb and suggest that you use the male_teen_12 keyframes instead.

When the Bipeds of two different meshes differ in size, shape, or number of parts, substituting or transferring keyframes from one mesh to the other tends to result in the problem you now face.  Some hexxers have capitalised on this situation in the past by making stretched versions of male_basic, et al., but it seems you don't want to take male_teen_12 in that direction.
