Hey has anyone read the Wolverine #66?  It was apparently the first of a two part series where it is 50 years in the future and an older Logan (aka Wolverine) is taking a road trip across the Country to deliver a package.  The country is split into territories that are ruled by various supers.  And #67 I guess comes out today.

It sounds like an intriguing story line.  I haven't read it.  I might be willing to pick it up.  What do you guys think?

Mowgli

The first two issues of that are out, and it's pretty good. Not only is it drawn well, but Millar's writing is very good. I recommend the book to anyone interested. I'm not sure how many parts it will be, but it's definitely more than two.

Dr.Volt

Oh...I probably read that wrong than (iow, being just a 2 part series).  I saw that #67 shows the older Logan viewing the skeletal remains Spidey, Cap America, Storm and some other iconic heroes.  Intriguing story!

Zippo

I've been reading it, and enjoying it quite a bit so far. It's really an interesting look at a possible future, and the writing is great!

Dr.Volt

I picked up both issues from my LCBS today.  Gotta' say VERY enjoyable so far.  Very interesting view on the future.  Excellent writing and good art work.  I'll post more soon.

i'm VERY happy with it so far!

Excellent art from Steve McNiven.

I'm a little lukewarm to the story, though, not because of any failings of its own (I think the dialogue is well-written for the most part and the pacing and direction of the plot are okay)... it's just that I've had my fill of "dystopian future superhero stories" having read a number of "The End" specials recently, not to mention that Peter David's "The Last Avengers Story" and "Hulk: Future Imperfect" are fresh enough in my memory that I keep making (unfair) comparisons.

I'm with you on that. I enjoy the stories where the world in the future is still a functioning one, albeit more advanced or whatever changes the author feels would happen between now and then, vs the utopia/dystopia. It seems to be a kneejerk concept whenever someone says "This will take place in the future". Anywho, I haven't read a Wolverine series in a long time, so I might pick this up.

Yeah, I am with you guys there.  I think the whole dystopian deconstruction theme is getting over done.  But I am intrigued with this view of the near future.
I really like the way that the US is split into 5 different "kingdoms" ruled by super villains....some of which are their nasty super offspring.  Also I intrigued with a passifist Logan.  When questioned by Hawkeye about what happened Logan simply says "they broke me, Bub"...and then something about they (whoever killed the other supers) let him live.  I don't think it was torture or beatings themselves that could have broke him.  But yeah....shame...that could do it. But I can't help but wonder when Wolverine is gonna' have enough an pop those claws!  Also, I can't help but notice the similarity of this story line to the Clint Eastwood film Unforgiven.
Man, I'm enjoying this story arch!

murs47

I'm digging this arc so far. I don't think I've ever read a story where Wolverine is a pacifist. I guess this take on him is what makes it enjoyable for me.

It's novel imho.  I NEVER would have thought of Wolverine as a pacifist.  And if you think about it, he's the perfect pacifist b/c he can take the beating(i.e. regenerative powers and adamantium skeleton).  I don't think it will last forever though.  It's only a matter of time before the claws come back out.

Also, I have been enjoying an older Hawkeye.  He's still good with that bow!
He skewered those Ghost Riders and didin't even need to be able to see!
Well, the new one comes out tomorrow (#68) and I'm looking forward to it.
So, I finally figured out that the girl in the spider suit is Peter Parker's grand daughter and Hawkeye's daughter.  One does wonder if she has inherited any of Petey's spider powers.  She sure didn't get any of his heroic convictions that's for sure!
Bah!  Old Ollie (from DKR) is still better, and he's only got one arm!  :P

thanoson

Hmm... for an old blind guy, he sure kicks some arse. Awesome, a blunt decapitation.

Is it just me or did the latest issue seem too short? I still loved every second of it.

WAY too short!
Hawkeye's daughter does him in and then...Logan is stuck driving solo.  I just went...that's it?!  Dang!  Now I have to wait a whole month more till the next issue!  And that's what the fine folks at Marvel want. It is really good stuff!
thanoson
About to do him in. Logan is going to make the save. So, does this mean her mom has super strength as well?
BatWing

i read it online
it sucks that hawkeye is blind and wtf hulk family?
Podmark

In the MC2 comics Hawkeye is blinded too. Wonder if Miller got his inspiration there.

BatWing

yeah but
hulk family come on! i'm still waiting for wut happen to wolverine, hes spirit is like dead inside.
