Has anyone tried MikeB7's Taskmaster shield throw fx in FFvt3R?  I am having trouble getting this fx to work.  I get weird box effects in the game.

You are missing a texture.

The shield throw fx just came with 1 tga file is there supposed to be another?

Yeah I pretty sure it had some textures from exist FF1 fxs and trying to use it in FF2 you need to open the nif open with a hex editor to see what textures you are missing and replace them.

It's easier just to check the "FF.log (text document if you don't have endings showing)" and scan through it because it'll list missing textures of any fx it couldn't find during your LAST playthrough.

Ok, I looked at the fflog and did not see any mention of a texture missing.  Then I loaded the core nif in the hex editor and have no idea what I am looking for.  I am trying install the fx for FFX and I am using vista.  Any other input would be appreciated.

If it's truly missing a tga, then you have to have looked at the fx in game either in the fx selector or in game and log out before doing anything else for it to show up in the ff.log. It resets everytime the game is launched or a session/mission is started.

But, providing a link to the fx for others to test would also be ubah helpful. I'll take a look at it later on today and report back. :)

Here is the link to the fx

Both the club and shield throw do not work, so I assume they are both missing textures.  Let me know what you come up with when you get some free time...thanks again

gave it a quick check.

Is the tga missing, but I think this may be one of the very few fx that aren't easily transferable. This is the second alpha plane shield fx I've seen have a problem like that...so, you might want to upgrade or wait until I have nifskope downloaded to check it out more thoroughly. ^^

i have the same prob with the taskmaster shield throw if you come up with a fix maybe you can post  thanks

Ok, buds, I wasn't planning on fxing this at all and I was just going to do a very simple transfer. Of course, I ran into problems and I will describe them after the colon:

1. The nif I wanted to use has integrated textures, so it wasn't changeable.

2. Because of that, I was pretty much forced to go to one of my older max files I don't particularly like, but was efficient enough for this job. (I like 3d objects, not 2d planes)

3. I didn't really like the old texture and dumbly said, "Hey, Prem, you can finally reinstall photoshop cs and play around with it a bit more on the lappy!"

4. I did so and realized I'm so rusty that I couldn't even make a circle! I'm exaggerating...but it felt that way

5. I spent almost an HOUR building, semi-shading, and giving it my own stylistic look and still ended up hating it.

6. Nifskope crashed...4 times. FOUR!

7. There's no 7.

8. And here we are...so, I hope this fits your fancies even though it's not particularly well made or great looking.

It's not really "purple", but that's the lighting of the game playing with it. I'll toy with the tga a bit more later. I was kind of going for a cartoony/comic look. Also, I'm aware that the shield has/had a blue outline in the white part, but that was cut off thanks to the mapping. :P

Here's how it looked during production. Somehow my orange became Yellow...hot.

I guess I should point out, since I was lazy, the tga was mostly based on the old one linked to in this thread...that and a good few of the pics I saw were conflicting. Again, I'm lazy. :P

Nice  Fixing the fx was definitely beyond my capabilities.  Thanks for taking the time to fill my request.
