I recently bought a sharp LC-32SB24U and I use DirecTv. However my picture is fuzzy and not at all what digital should look like. Info on my screen tells me that it is receiving analog not digital. I went through the setup process but it never gives me the option of digital. Anyone here tech savvy?

Far as I know, and i could be wrong, if you use a service like DirecTV then you don't need to switch to HD because that service will pipe it to you.  HD signals are for TVs that are not hooked up to a service....just a box with an antenna

EDIT:  So your fuzzy picture may be something that you will have to have DirecTV fix.

He's right, only if you use an antenna will you even need to think about it.

Basically, the digital thing is being done mostly to free up additional airspace.  The government needed some, and using a digital signal frees up so much space that the networks will have more airspace than they know what to do with.

Signals that come in other ways, they don't care about.  The satellite signal is already converted before going to your TV anyway.  It may be converting to an analog signal, but that has nothing to do with the changeover.

How fuzzy is it exactly? Is it just the normal fuzzy you get with a big TV when the channels aren't High-Def or is it unwatchably fuzzy?
No matter what, I'd call DirecTV.

I actually worked for Directv. Describe to me the exact problem and also what type of connection you are using. What model of receiver? Also the receivers themselves if they arent HD receivers take the digital signal from the satelite and convert it to analog so the TV can read it. Pretty much coax cable, RCA cables and S-video are all analog feeds. Most fuzzy picture problems are either a bad cable between the TV and the receiver or a loose connection. Also the cause of a fuzzy picture could be that your TV is HD and it is set to HD settings through the TV but the receiver you are using is SD. If this is the problem you can change the aspect ratio through the TVs menus and it should clear it up. fuzzy isnt a problem thats on the DTV signal side. Those would end up looking like freezeframes or pizilization or just say searching for satelite signal.
