Howdy guys, I've developed something of a fondness for The Phantom Stranger and Dr. Thirteen after reading this excellent blog: http://iamthephantomstranger.blogspot.com/

Have either of them ever been made?

JLAfan2001

kennx made a phantom stranger at alexff but I don't know about doctor thirteen.

Only now? Sheesh, Benton, where you been?

I'm sure I've seen Dr. 13 somewhere... Gotta be. If you can't find one in a while I will just retrofit a skin I am working (very slowly) on now into one. It will be easy.

You and me both, Unk. I know I've seen a Dr. 13 skin, along with a Dr. Occult. I can find Dr. O, but ol' Terrence seems to be missing.

I've got a Magic Agent skin that could be fudged a bit and turned into Dr. 13..

BentonGrey

Haha, sorry, as comprehensive as I've tried to be, there are still gaps.  JLU formed the basis of my knowledge (post Superfriends), so their absence there led to my lack of interest.  I've been feeling very Pulp-ish lately, though, so these guys fit right into that.  If I had more time (ohh, if ONLY I had more time) I would put together a pulp style campaign for DC....ahhh....

Anyway, Unko to my rescue, as usual. ;)  If the good Doctor doesn't turn up, I'm sure I could find something to cover the spot, but if you're already working on something I definitely wouldn't say no!  I do like the more pulp-y looking Dr., with the trench coat and fedora, just as a caveat.

Thanks for all the help guys!  (and thanks for the directions JLAfan!)

UnkoMan

Did Dr. 13 wear a fedora ever? Or are you now thinking of Dr. Occult?

Even if he had my skin would not reflect that. It would, most likely, be from his latest mini-series which is, from the small parts I have read, quite good. Plus I love the power of being so skeptical that magic doesn't even work on you, and in fact have toyed with creating such a character in the past.

The more I think about it the more I realize I am just going to do this skin eventually anyhow. I just hope I can find some glasses I actually like on a mesh because so far there hasn't been any real luck.

BentonGrey

Yeah, in his original appearances, but I suppose it isn't a big deal.  Yeah, I like that skeptic-power too, that's really neat.

John Force, Magic Agent, Dag? That ACG character has always intrigued me. Have you ever posted the skin, or is it someone else's?

daglob

John Force is mine. I haven't been able to get the coin to look right, so it hs never been posted. However, I may try to scope a coin into his hand over the weekend.

Dr. Thirteen might go well on the same mesh that Atomic Robot uses for Clark Kent, or even VX Clark Kent (or whatever it's name is). Since the AR skin goes on a PV mesh, you might be able to have a "trenchcoat" and a "Suit" version. I don't recall him wearing a hat; if he ever did it was probably only because of the weather.

Now, if you could only arrange for him to trade minds with his cat...

Back before poor Terrence got turned into Prince Ra-Man, he could exchange minds with his cat (kinda like Congo bill and Congorilla); his body would fall into a trance and be paralysed while his mind in his cat's body would go out and do detective work.

Midnight Louie look out.

At the risk of being obscurely pedantic, I have to say it wasn't Dr. 13 who became the cat and Prince Ra-Man, Dag. It was Mark Merlin, another DC nose-poker into the supernatural.

BentonGrey

Haha, fear not Danhagen, the DCUG is ABOUT being obscurely pedantic. ;)

AGGH! You're right. I get the two mixed up sometimes. I think it began when Dr. 13 started appearing as a cheif annoyance in The Phantom Stranger, and I was under the assumpion that he and MM were the same.

I can't help it; I was young and naive at the time.

So, Mark Merlin ought to be easy to do, except for the whole cat thing...

Wait a minute! Have you ever seen Mark Merlin and Dr. 13 together at the same time? Maybe...

danhagen

You have a point, Dag. And have you ever seen either of them with Roy Raymond, TV Detective?
