idea project for ff

i'm on an alternate freedom force kick.
anyway, here's the concept.  due to the overwhelming popularity of freedom force; marvel, dc, and image have come up with their own versions.  dc has earthff now, marvel has the freedom supreme reality, and image...image is just doing what image does.
so, idea-wise, what would these companies come up with for story and character designs?
(i'm thinking of the way marvel made squadron supreme, and dc simply buys out a company such as blue beetle and those guys.)

After which DC goes about totally changing the characters around then kills them off and replaces them with "modern" versions.

Sorry, I grew up on the Charlton Action Heroes.

Actually, this is an interesting idea. DC buys Irrational Comics and puts out a Minuiteman comic to compete with Captain America; Bullet shows up in The Flash and learns about the Speed Force; Liberty Lad joins The Teen Titians, El Diablo learns that he is decended from the DC hero with the same name, and sets about solving the dissapearence of his ancestor...

... and can't you just see a midnight discussion between Mentor and J'onn J'onzz over hot chocolate and Oreos?

All updated to the '00s, of course.

Over at Marvel we get, what, The Liberty Squad? A decendent of their character named The Patriot (I think that was him; he wore the tricorn hat and may have been Captain America in the late '40s), a blue Atlantean with a suitable name, War Machine or maybe someone in the old, gold Iron Man armor, Woodgod's sister or an Eternal (Celestial?) who guards nature, Toro's son or daughter (remember Toro showing up in Sub-Mariner?), .

Of course, Marvel already has versions of Minuteman, Liberty Lad, El Diablo, Manbot, Mentor, Man-O'-War, and Bullet. Odd, that the women and Law and Order don't seem to have duplicates (unless Alchemiss counts as Doc Strange and Law and Order counts as Starhawk).

i'm totally digging your dc.  i can picture a flash of 2 worlds type meeting with bullet.
i think marvel would be more likely to do an homage universe with 'new' characters, like squadron supreme.
man bot would be armor man.  an experiment with a man attempting to hook up with an advanced ai.  the ai viruslike infects his body, injecting nanobots.  armor man in catotonic state, will he wake up?
energy x in general would be a goverment experiment.
what would image do?
i think liberty squad is the image team.  minute man would look about the same, but he would be called renaissance man, jack of all trades.  eve is delilah, prehensile hair that saps a man's strength.

Shades of Shambleau...

Remember that Marvel bought Malibu and then pretty much destroyed or ignored it. I really liked Nightman, Solitaire, and The Strangers, and they pretty much creased to exist after the company was bought by Marvel (although, Solitaire may have been killed before that).

Maybe the secret behind Energy X is that the Government didn't invent it, they found it. As to where it came from...

Maybe make this a contest

1. I don't mean to derail this thread, but I loved Malibu's Ultraverse, too. I hate that Marvel bought it and then destroyed it. I want to work on a skope for Lady Killer of the Strangers. Then that means all we would need are Zip Zap and Grenade. Now, back on topic...

2. Image has grown leaps and bounds since its original inception. I love their comic books now but back in the day, they were all part of that 90's fad of having 'death', 'blood' or 'kill' in their name. So, for Freedom Force, how about calling them Fatal Force, making their feet way too small and their thighs way too big (a la Liefeld), have them work for a secret US agency and fight to the death against foreign mercenaries and terrorists. Minute Man would be Patriotic Blood, El Diablo would be FireKill, Man Bot could be DeathMetal and so on. ;)

Well if you wanted to go with established translations to the comic companies you could say the following:

DC:
Alchemiss - Zatanna
El Diablo - Sunboy
Eve - Speedy II
Green Genie -Miss America
Blackjack - Tarantula
Iron Ox - Citizen Steel
Law - Liberty Belle
Liberty Lad - Stripesy
Man O' War - Aquaman
Man-Bot - Robotman or Cyborg
Mentor - Brainwave Jr.
Microwave - Wildfire
Minuteman - Uncle Sam or Mr. America
Order - Steel
Quetzacoatl - Felix Faust II
Sea Urchin - Aqua-Girl
Sky King - Skyman
Supercollider - Atom or Damage
The Ant - Doll Man
The Bard - Black Canary??
Tombstone - Obsidian or Deadman??
Tricolour - Katana

Marvel:
Achemiss - Scarlet Witch or Arcanna
Blackjack - Union Jack
Bullet - Quicksilver
El Diablo -Human Torch II or Sunfire
Eve - Hawkeye II
Green Genie - Sersi
Iron Ox - Colossus
Law - Thundra
Liberty Lad - Bucky
Man O' War - Sub-Mariner
Man-Bot - Iron Man
Mentor - Professor X
Microwave - Sunturion Human Torch
Minuteman - Spirit of 76' or Captain America or Patriot
Order - Thunderstrike
Quetzacoatl - Molecule Man or Doctor Druid
Sea Urchin - Namorita
Sky King - Starfox
Supercollider - Rage
The Ant - Ant Man
The Bard - Banshee
Tombstone - Vision
Tricolor - Captain Britain II or Valkyrie

I'm sure others can come up with plenty of translations for characters but this is what I (with help from Avalon as well) came up with.

Avalon

I would go with:
DC
Green Genie - Jade
Liberty Lad- Robin
Sky King- Hawkman
The Ant- Atom (Ray Palmer);Current Sandman
The Bard- Hornblower
Tombstone- The Spectre

Marvel
Green Genie- Cleo
Sky King- Falcon

Just put Minute Man's Tricornor Hat on Deathstroke mesh, add the eye fx from Gren's Cable_Fx mesh slap on the chestbands, armbands kneepads and shoulderpads (and puff up the shoulder pads to EXTRA big) and you're on your way.  Skin it with a blue vest White pants and red starpangled criscrossed straps, match the armbands and kneepads.

Marvel's Liberty Lad would be a corpse for nearly 40 years (use your own zombie mesh BIL) before coming back as Syber Soldier - (skope Mix of Gren's Taskmaster and Tommy's Tharok)

DC's Would have made Earth F in the 1970s - an alternate Earth Where the Freedom Force were an underground force fighting the Communist menace that has taken over the United States (Of Course they meet a troop of Heroes that have a striking resemblence to the major characters from City of Heroes in a two issue crossover that's not a crossover).  Order would have to have a big disco collar, Law would have to have the Cockrum sash, and El Diablo would have no shirt, a big cheese deomon's head medalion, mullet and thick handlebar mustache (Have you seen El Dorado people?)

bearded

ok.  that image stuff is perfect.  and then, after the group is set up, alan moore has to come in and write it up, after which he gets annoyed at something, and neil gaimen finishes the story he started.
delilah and renaissance man in the liberty squad would be the marvel universe.

I thought Grenade had been done on a VX mesh, along with Atom Bob.

Somwhere I have a "modern" version of Minute Man for a hexed Captain America mesh. To "image-ize" it all you would have to do is add straps at the ankles, straps at the wrists, straps on the thigh, straps on the upper arms, straps on the neck, straps, and straps and straps and...

I guess you could say he's a strapping young man?

:P

I did Atom Bob cause he was my fave but never got around to the others.

I liked Atom Bob too, and hated what they did to him. Kept hoping they would fix that.

Well, I can't find a Grenade skin anywhere on my hard drive, so maybe I dreamed it. I guess I need to finish up my Nightman and Solititaire skins and post 'em.
