Well I finally had time to finish these guys, I will be releasing them today on my yahoo group as soon as I finish the read me's. Also these will be for FFvs3R only and will be in DDS format, sorry FF1 guys I don't play it any more. Anyway here is Dr Alchemist, Heatwave, Captain Cold and the Electrocutioner. I should have them uploaded within a hour or so, let me know if you think they need anything more or less or if something does not look right. I fixed the mid section of capt. cold to make it look baggier, as that was one thing I heard after the last preview I did.

Oh, finally! I think the Electrocutioner is the weakest of these. His bright red lacks tone, and the inverted chest looks odd.
The other three are fantastic though. Cold's clothing is great, but my fav is probably Dr. A.
I can't decide what mesh Electrocutioner is on.. but it's really making me want to hand you a muscular version to use instead....

heatwave looks more like he's wearing a utility suit than spandex (which is truer to the character) and Captain Cold just looks spectacular, sadly i don't know much about the electrocutioner, so i prolly wont download him. i think i remember him in a nightwing comic, but hta about it.
Thanks for the repleys and glad you like them, and as for the Electrocutioner I understand the need for him to be a little more beefy. I had the hardest time with him, I started him about a year ago using hexxing them scoping. I will try to find a new mesh for the base body thats a little bit buffer. Any ideas? He's on a scope by Lord Ehmsidy (Male Cape Effects Braclets) I had to us a cape version to get the head ties to work.

ah okay so I can't just make ya a replacement and let ya use that.. because you're skinned to pieces I didn't make. Best I could do is grab the parts via skope and then place them on another mesh.. and drrrr... not sure if that's morally correct for me to do.

O.K. take too, I just uploaded the new version. I did not realize there was a alpha channel and I also made a mistake in the read me. I forgot to add the tunic and hoody ties to the list of Tommyboy extras and did not add Afghan ant as the skinner of the gun I use in the skope. I apologize for that and have corrected it, sorry in to much of a hurry. Please re-download and let me know if that works and if someone could try the other ones, thank you.

I'm so sorry but just re-downloaded cold and I'm still not seeing him, just all the wonderful extras... the body itself is completely invisible.
Same for me. I opened male_basic in GIMP and there isn't anything in there.
O.K. take three, I just realize I had tried the skin partion feature in Nifskope on this mesh. I have uploaded the mesh again from the copy I had before I did the skin partion. I am sorry for asking again for people to download again and see if that was the problem. Any word on the others? do they show up, work?

Okay love them, think they are great.. wish like hell they had different animations. Now, this brings up a quandry I've often had as a mesher. If I want to recreate them so I can give better anims, here are the ways I could go.
1. Completely make from scratch meshes of my own to look like what you've done.
(counterpoint) now you skin doesn't work on my reproduction and I feel I've lost out on something. your skin fits those items as they are made for mapping and things just won't match.
2. I could use skope to grab those items and import them into max and then animate and release as a new mesh.
(counterpoint) whoa whoa.. moral murkiness.. it's one thing for a hexxer to do that but am I now violating some mesher ettiquete. Plus sadly if I put them on a vx body.. which I personally prefer.. now at least some of the skin doesn't fit so I still haven't managed to do what I wanted which was to have a (god help me) improved (yes bad word) version of what you've already done.
any thoughts please because I really have gone back and forth on this concept many times myself already.
I would say that for my part, anything I've made can be hexxed, skoped or altered via import to Max. Can't speak for anyone else of course.
In a case like this, if the parts involved are relatively simple ones, I would think it possible to remake the parts yourself and match the mapping to the pre-existing bits.
Moral conundrum solved, you've made it all yourself.
Since we've done that with whole bodies to get meshes with mapping compatible with male/female basic etc, I think it should be do-able, if a bit of a pain to match up the geometry and mapping.
A third route to better anims is to do your VX magic in max, then export the new anims on a bog-standard male_basic max file. Voila, better anims for existing skopes (assuming that they use mb compatible keyframes...)
sigh let me start a new post on this in meshes.. feel like I'm hijacking this thread and I have more to discuss on the matter.

Yeah, I noticed that myself, I just got done adjusting my hero files to your new versions and when I went to test them out in the Rumble room they all had the light blue portait.
Them are some sweet skopes and skins!!!

I don't know what up with the portrait, I converted the to .dds. Does anyone know if they need .tga's?
If so I can upload as a zip with just the portraits, otherwise I will have to check them when I get home tonight. And see if I can find the problem.

Double check the physical size of the portrait in Photoshop or something.
dds is fine, it will show up in game.
Hey TAP! Awesome work as always. I have been really waiting for those skins, and they are all excellent. I think that the Electrocutioner looks really great, but that Dr. Alchemy is absolutely fantastic!
Thanks everyone, I finally figured out what was up with the portraits. I had saved the in the wrong size 80x128 which the new game will take but in .tga's for .dds it's 64x128 like FF1. I tried them this morning in game( Like I should have done before releasing :banghead:) I will upload a zip with them tonight when I get home and fix the skopes as well for those that have not download them yet. Thanks again for the patience.

I did some more work on Chemo and managed to get the skin to animate, saw the suggestion :thumbup:
I still want to do more work on the body shape and play around with the skin some more.
Was thinking of adding some glow to the skin and some tweaks. Let me know what you think and any ideas, thanks

I made some changes to my Electrocutioner skope, changed the body to a more muscular and had to add a belt because the old body had the belt built in. This was based on opinions from the first time I previewed him.

Jack Knight/ Starman IV, so far I only have the face, hair and jeans done. But I would like to hear any comments on it to see if anything needs to be changed, he is one of my favorite characters and I want to try to get it right. I may try and narrow the chin a little and make the ears stick out a very little more. And on a side note does anyone know if the is a way to fix the goggles in the hover animation, it's jumps up and down a little.

Alright! Electrocutioner! Great TAP, I'm really glad to see that you finished him. I'll be able to include him now. The face on that Jack Knight just looks incredible man. Your work continues to impress. I know that there IS a way to affix the goggles...by attaching them to a bone, I think, but I don't really know the ins-and-outs of it.
I'm excited about Starman ... he's one of my favourite DC characters too.

If you attach the goggles to the head and remove the NiSkinInstance (I think), that should solve the floating issue. Also, great facial work. :thumbup:
that would remove the floating issue, but it would also make the goggles static. i think the problem lies in the keyframes themselves, i'm not sure how they could be fixed (i tried going into IPS iceman keyframes to fix a similar problem, but ended up breaking the keyframes)
RE: the Jack Knight goggles. I just had a look at he Max file for that mesh, and the goggles appear to be linked to a bip, but also to have their own animations so sometimes they are covering his eyes, and sometimes above the eyes on his forehead.
And on the hover they do jump a little.
So even if you remove the link to the bip and physique them (which should stop them "floating" in ffv3r), it wont cure the jump. You'd have to delete the animation of the goggles entirely from the keyframes, or just within that particular animation (hover). Or truncate the animation a little, so the jump bit is cut off.
It may be less trouble to use a different set of goggles unless you are wedded to these and really want the "sometimes up, sometimes down" goodness that they bring.
I'd offer to fix the goggle animations and re-export him myself, but my inclination would be to make my own, new version from scratch. Not that there's anything deficient about the existing one, its great. But that would be what I'd do...

Man there is a lot of dust on this thread, anyway I finally had a couple of hours to work on something. Here is the Parademon skope and update of the skin I have been working on. I did some reshaping of the nose and chin to get the look I wanted, I also have a goggle version that I'm not so sure about. The goggle was a little big and I need to look at a couple of other options. Anyway I am happy with the face or at least the mouth area so far and will show more as I get it done. My idea is to have a few versions of the armor so it can be put to random. And I'm working on adding some extra animations, but I also have a question for everyone. I am using TJ male_test_flight as the base mesh and wanted to use the hover and fly animations from INK's black tom mesh, but for some reason the wings only pop out if you use the original fly and hover. But I did add more hover ranged animations. So the question is how many really want the wings to pop out, because if not I also have a version based off Gren starman mesh and there is 2 other keyframes I can use to add more animations. So with wing out all the time or only during fly and hover?

For your keyframe questions, just keep in mind that you would only need the idle and melee_idle(to be doubly sure) animations to keep the wings in, and possibly the land_from_flight
then for the wings to come out, i'm assuming you would only need the take_flight animation, all other flying and hover keyframes would have the wings pulled out.
it's kind of a nasty trick with keyframes but it works

Here is another update, I still have more work to do on the green parts but it getting there. And I made changes to the keyframes to have the wings pop out in flight and added a fer more part. I feel it's finally looking like I had wanted to look 4 years ago when I first skinned the parademons for male_basic, then staff, rifle and paradeom versatile. I did change the eye to red, thought it incorporated the old and a little of the Tas version. I have tomorrow off so I should have it finished by tomorrow night, let me know if you think it needs something or if it has to much?

I missed Chemo's first appearence, but I saw the second (Doc Magnus turned into a giant radioactive metal man? OH NO!), and I don't see him "running" either, more like lumbering. And not moving his arms while he does it. All the other animations should be stiff, with the melee animations being limited to stomp, swat, and 2-handed pile-driver. I need to check back, but I think he has only one ranged attack (unless he picks something up and throws it), and that is when he spits chemicals on you. I don't think he flies, but if he did he sould still be in that "idle" position. Ditto for him hovering.
Well that just turned out great! :)
I agree that Chemo should have the bare range of movement ... he's always been portrayed as a lumbering, brainless hulk (when he's not being controlled by someone).

And for those that were waiting for the Chemo I had previewed, I had a comp crash and lost the nif as well as some other stuff I was working on. I plan on recreating chemo at some point its just going to take some time. I also have a update of the just released Robo_spider skope I did with help by JKCarrier, All the reflect maped line up now and I will post pics latter to show the difference.

got the mesh the way I wanted and to look as close as I could get to the character. I hope everyone enjoys it, there are two versions available.
