Okay, It's official... Cute kills.. and these are not even the Mojoverse X-Babies either...
While Wolverine And The X-Men ended up on NickToons and the other Marvel toons with Spectacular Spider-Man on DisneyXD (formerly Toon Disney).. apparently Cartoon Network picked up a full season order of this show.
Stan "The Man" Lee will voice the Mayor of New York and the rest of the cast will be filled out by Tom Kenny, Steve Blum, Charlie Adler, Grey DeLisle, Wayne Knight, LeVar Burton, Michelle Trachtenberg, Greg Grunberg, Lena Headey, Adrian Pasdar, Tricia Helfer, Jennifer Morrison, Tamera Towry and Robert Englund.
I'm still sensing a major flashback to Muppet Babies here...
- CQ
There is something funny about seing a baby version of MODOK... maybe they will change him into MODOC, like Mental Organism Designed Only for Cuddling. :P
Hey that looks pretty goo..... OMG OMG OMG!!!! This is so fricken wrong! Hey, I like puppies and kittens hanging on branches as much as the next guy, but this is so very not there.
Oh! I know this stuff!
This show is based off those super- deformed non- posable toys from Wal- Mart! The ones where everyone- even the villians- are smiling! Here's... a pic of Galactus:
I dunno, I might get into this show. I liked Muppet Babies.
EDIT: Just took a longer look at the voice actors... wow. You have Neuman from Seinfeld, LeVar "Reading Rainbow" Burton, Nathan Petrelli and Matt Parkman from Heroes, grown- up Harriet the Spy, Grey DeLisle (who does everything!), and Robert FREAKIN' Englund! I know I'm geeking out more than I should, but COOL!!
Loki is happy!
I'll be watching this, though I wish the title WAS actually Marvel Babies.
They look less like babies and more like shrunken characters to me. Well... Captain America's HEAD is at least the right size.
Gotta agree with Unko, they look more like supergnomes than superkids. Falcon looks coo though, as does Loki and MoleMan. Must agree, if nothing else, voice cast looks awesome.
Why does Doom have a sword?
Why does Wolvie have no nose?
Why is there only one girl? (oh wait, they're probably still at the "I hate girls" stage, nevermind)
Why did Sabertooth let them do that to his hair?
Quote from: Glitch Girl on February 20, 2009, 06:00:36 PM
Why does Wolvie have no nose?
The character designer probably grew up after logan lost his adamantium and he was runing around all feral, I swear they drew him as though he had no nose then. I even remember the jokes..
"Logan has no nose"
"How does he smell?"
"Terrible".

That should explain the sword thing.
Oh crud, It's a "gotta catch 'em all" plot with sword parts. [cringes]
Is there no end to Marvel's greed and stupidity?
Sigh....
Dana
Wow, that just looks fantastically bad. I'm actually impressed by how bad this looks, and yet is still managing to get made. That's a triumph of the human spirit right there.
It's taken me five minutes to think of a response that wasn't almost totally expletives.
This is just bad. They're back to releasing cartoons exclusively to sell toys, I see.
Why are adult actors voicing the characters? Are the characters children? Are they adults that have been child-ized?
Great Caesar's ghost--I get that it's for children, but...oh, whatever.
The whole thing is a spin-off of one of their toy lines (which I believe has been a successful line).
I can't say I'm looking forward to this, but you never know it could be fun.

Actually, the toys were first. By a few years, I think. They make these "Super- Deformed" style "toys" for Marvel, Star Wars, and Transfromers.
EDIT: Ninja'd!
I think it is just an artistic style we're not used to. I thought i was going to HATE batman: the Brave and the Bold, because it's style was like Adam West's Batman. Then i loved it! Let's try to be somewhat open minded, okay?
No!!
The Falcon's giving me the thumbs-up. What'd I do?
Do you have breadcrumbs? A thumb's up usually means he wants breadcrumbs.
They can barely make the Hulk Vs. over a half hour each episode but they can pump out a whole season of this? I remember when I was a kid. I really used to like the DCU Batman and the X-men series. I dont think I could have even standed this unless I was like 5
Won't watch a minute of it.
Makes me realize how poor Marvel's villain roster is. Other than Doom, Venom, Magneto and the Red Skull, there's not a lot worth fearing in the Marvel Universe. (And even those four started out with great concepts and sank like rocks.)
After Striperella I never doubt Stan. Never!
I thought that would be the worst cartoon ever and I wound up loving it.
LeVar "Reading Rainbow" Burton.....that sounds good. I actually met him once. Cool guy!

Nah...I grew up reading comics with adult heroes in them and most kids have adult heroes to look up to. What kid really wants to see a bunch of baby/child super heroes? It's good for a laugh, for about a minute, then what?...Power Pack doesn't even sell
that well, does it?

I actually like quite a lot of Marvel villains. A lot of the ones here even. Juggernaut, Sabretooth, Loki, Fing Fang Foom, Abomination, MODOK... On the other hand, I completely hate Venom. I'll admit though, a lot of villains are cool as a design and power, but not to have backstories told about them. Still... some of my favourite mainstream comics are about villains on hard times. Flowers for Rhino anyone?

Oh, SHJ. SHJ, SHJ, SHJ! You named Venom as a good villain, but skipped over Norman Osbourne/Green Goblin? Get out. Get out right now! ^^.
Sooo....If all of them have three fingers and a thumb (atleast the heroes who normally have four and a thumb), does the Thing have two and a thumb? Does Nightcrawler have one finger and a thumb? Intriguing...Think on that.
Dana :P
Enchantress isn't in the pic, thats weid, she's a villain in the superhero squadcomics, i'm guessing she'll be voiced by tricia helfer in the show
i'm looking forward to this.

Season 19 episode 7. Husbands and Knives.
I just watched it and I had seen it before but only the second half. Alan Moore plays himself so well, it's hilarious because he's totally like that in real life. That's gotta be one of the best more recent episodes, especially the opening story. Thanks for making me look it up, The Hitman!
looks more like Marvel Midgets...

What? I thought the MODOK thing was kinda funny, actually (even if I happen to seriously hate the artwork on Doom).
My prediction on the MMO thing: They're going to tank just like Marvel's other attempts. I predict they will actually get MSHS to market but it's going to stink on ice and fold within a year. The head honchos at Marvel will be distracted by shiny objects and MUO will die quietly. Again.

Yeah. I keep wanting to post specific comics, but then I see another funny one seconds later.
Hey, if this show is going to be a hardcore parody like the comic, it may be worthwhile.
Well future doesn't bode well for the comic - hasn't been a new installment since February 25th.
Personally, most of the gags fell flat to me with a few exceptions (Doom's closet did give me a giggle). I really don't know what to expect from this show, but my gut tells me not to get my hopes up to high. Lately, with the exception of Spiderman, Marvel's animation trackrecord of late has been less than stellar (NOTE: I have not seen the Iron Man animated series so I don't know how that's going or even if it's aired yet, don't have Nicktoons)

I'd add Wolverine and the X-Men. I thought it was going to be too Logan-centric, but that hasn't been the case. Of course, Wolverine is the main character, but they've allowed other people to shine a little bit. Nice animation, interesting plots, and I like the design. A very solid show, in my opinion.

The very few I did find funny were mostly ruined by the titles, which usually gave away the punch line.
I suddenly realized why I find this effort so disappointing. It's because Marvel has done something like this before, only much better.

Don't they still do that in some books? I know X-men First Class used to do it and I recall some from recent comics involving the Avengers and the assorted colors of Hulk (Red, Green, Blue...).

Just a reminder. This show is having an hour long premier next week on Cartoon Network for those interested.
The first episode aired in Canada today, and I saw it. I can honestly say I thought it was awful. Lots of gross humor (farts, snot, ect). The show was fast paced to the point of it being on too much sugar, and I really didn't care for the writing in general. I don't plan to watch any more episodes of it.

QuoteWhen the greatest heroes on the planet unite to face the world?s greatest villains, you get the biggest, most family-friendly Super Hero team-up in TV history? Super Hero Squad. It?s no small job protecting Super Hero City from VillainVille?s infamous criminals? but Iron Man, Wolverine, the Hulk, the Silver Surfer, Thor and the Falcon are always up for the job.
Shouting ?Hero Up!? as they rush into battle, the Squad must keep Dr. Doom?s allies from gathering pieces of the Infinity Sword. Otherwise, Doom will use the Sword to rule the universe! Luckily, the City is filled with Marvel Super Hero guest-stars to help out in a pinch. These brave heroes totally deliver the action ? but with plenty of humor on the side.
What I'm curious about is what in the hell were these big hollywood names thinking? Okay, I know ST:TNG don't have much of a future prospect. I know they canceled Terminator:TSCG. Seinfield, Nightmare on Elm Street and Sister, Sister all ended years ago. And I know Heroes writing sucks. But do these people really have nothing better to do?

This was far superior (and it was just for one episode)...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5Qw7WuiItdA
Well, I saw it.
Oh boy...
CN just aired two episodes back to back. The second had better pacing than the first, and fewer bodily function jokes, but overall, I spent most of the hour rolling my eyes ever few minutes
First, I have a question: are they supposed to be adults, kids, munchkins maybe? If it's that last one, that would explain a lot, like why all the characters sound either sped up or on helium in episode 1 and to a lesser degree in ep 2.
Second, I'd like to bring up the importance of a voice director. This is the person who casts the voice actors per role. While I cannot argue that they got some solid talent on this program, I felt a lot of the voices were miscast and in some cases sounded way too similar even though they were voiced by different people (MODOK & Mole Man, Warbird & Storm, Hawkeye & Iron Man, etc.) Doom gave me flashes of Buster Bunny from Tiny Toons in the first episode (probably because it was Charles Adler), but somehow by the second, the BBness was gone.
Some more random thoughts...
- Ep 1, the pilot episode was CERTAINLY the weaker of the two. Pacing was often manic (like cmdrkoenig mentioned) intersperced with bits that felt like filler and really didn't seem to serve a purpose (the whole bit with the eagle getting repeatedly injured for example). Act two even seemed to speed up as it went along. Plus waaaaaaaaaay too many fart and booger jokes which also felt like the writers were grasping at straws when it came to gag writing.
- Do we REALLY need a 12 second long "powerup" sequence every episode?
- If I hear the phrase "Hero Up" one more time, I think I will gag.
- The Silver Surfer as a "surfer dude" actually amused me a little.
- "Shield Shells"? Toyetic much?
- Why is Hulk on this team? Or more specifically, why is THIS version of the Hulk on this team? In episode 2, he contributes NOTHING towards the mission and breaks a phone, a doorway, and a few other things.
- Warbird and Captain America are amazingly annoying in this series.
- Moleman actually asks for a "speed boost", and gets quite possibly the most grotesque pair of legs I've seen in a long time. Also, the guy voicing him used to voice Waspinator on Beast Wars, so I half expected a line about "Wonko the Sane" at any moment.
- Ep2, should I know who Repteel is, or was he created to be the token hispanic character? I don't recognize him at all.
- The first 4 minutes of Ep 2 feel like random gags thrown together (including a barf gag).
- Wolverine lecturing someone on obeying orders... what's wrong with this picture?
- Did Wolverine just call Abominations "Stinky"? Did Thor just say "Zoinks"? Did he also just say "By Baldur's Manly Earlobes"?
- Did we really need the painted chest gag at the end of the (heaven help me) hockey game for the fractal?
- Is Hulk really completely useless? Oh wait, I covered that already.
I dunno, maybe I need to be a whole lot younger to like this show. Those of you who have kids, are they liking it? I'm guessing it's not aimed at my age range.
SIDENOTE: Thanks cmdrkoenig for posting that JLA link. First time I saw that episode I was in Chicago with a number of FRers at a pizza place and we were reading the closed captioning since the volume was too low and giving characters funny voices. Ah.. good times. Nice thing is, the episode holds up well too.
I saw the clips from the "tube" and it's not funny at all. Looks like a poor rip off of Tiny Toons, but with Marvel Characters.
I think it is totally quriky and a tad too funny(sorta a mixed reaction i suppose). I may or may not like it, time will tell though. I actually am amused by the thought of the Incredible Hulk being totally lost the whole time! I laughed so hard when they showed him with the Mariache(excuse the spelling) band. I think that could be a great gag! Thor, as always, is an annoyin little dork. Ironman is pretty cool. Wolvie, cuz let's face it that ain't wolverine, is too twirpy. He's the sort of dude i can see giving wedgies for no apparent reason. "Hey Falcon, what's up?" Yankity yank yank "Not Mu-OOOOOOOOWWWWWWW!!!" Its an odd little show, but we'll see.

Did Scott McNeil voice Mole Man? Because I read that it was someone else I was unfamiliar with)
Quote- Ep2, should I know who Repteel is, or was he created to be the token hispanic character? I don't recognize him at all.
Reptyl (I think that's how its spelled) is a new character. He was also in a series of comic strips based on this series (they were kinda like the Bullpen Bits) and also appeared in an Avengers: The Initiative special (which was called ATI Special Featuring Reptyl). If I remember an interview with Christos Gage correctly he was created for the show but they wanted to put him in the comics as well.
Quote- Wolverine lecturing someone on obeying orders... what's wrong with this picture?
Have you seen the Wolverine and the X-Men episode that focuses on Cyclops, Marauders and Sinister? That same irony is present in that episode too.

He was created for the show, but had a one shot in Avengers: The Initiative several months ago.
I thought I read Mole Man was not voiced by Scott McNeil (Waspinator's VA) and someone else entirely. I thought he was done by Tom Kenny who voiced Wasp in Animated but that's wrong too.
I saw the show on the weekend. The pace was ridiculous and I can't say I saw anything I really enjoyed. I do think it's kinda cool that so many characters are appearing in the show, but I doubt the premise will interest me at all.
Wolverine's had that irony for years; tis nothing new. He's always been a "do as I say, not as I do" type of person, and most of that comes from his age and the type of burdens he's taken on.

I may be wrong about Mole Man's voice actor, I didn't check credits since they were squashed up against some promo. It was my first thought when I heard him talk, though it could be someone else.
THEY'RE TEENAGERS???!!!!
This from Falcon Bio of the "heroes" website:
Falcon flies with wings made of "hard light" (a solid hologram). He's upgraded them with Stark-built "feathers" that shoot out as projectiles. Falcon communicates telepathically with birds, particularly his pet falcon Redwing. He can even "see" through their eyes, which comes in handy when the team needs recon. The original adrenaline junkie, Falcon loves anything that moves fast, flies high or causes severe motion sickness. Passionate and optimistic at 17, he's a born hot-dogger who's finally made it to the big leagues. Beneath his jokester persona, he's got a lot to prove.
They are Marvel teenage hobbits!
Okay, I hate to say this, but I think I'll have to tune back in on this show, if for nothing else, to satisfy my fannish curiosity.
