i've got an idea for a mod i want to make.
the highfather is creating a new world and darkseid is sending parademons to invade it.
the game play starts with beautiful dreamer with a mother box. she is able to create buildings that are actually portals that summon heroes to help her fight off the parademons.
the parademons ai goals are to destroy the buildings and fight the heroes, the heroes are 'cops' that fight the parademons, and dreamers goal is to destroy the parademon portals.
this would be the first level.

Sounds interesting, a nice change of pace, gameplay-wise.

Cool idea, bearded. I like it.

Sound ssomething like a mix between a campaign and the ever-popular watch mode.

I guess the tricky bit would be making it so the player has some kind of strategy.

eg

Dreamer would be limited in how many portals she could create, and the heroes return to their portal after a time limit. This way you need to pace yourself and not over-create at the beginning, or you'll run out of juice towards the end.

Rock-paper-scissors: Dreamer can control who or what comes out of each portal, and matches it to different types of Parademons that invade. eg when Fire parademons invade, don't create the portal that spawns the highly flammable Swamp Thing (as a bad example), but the one that spawns the fireproof Human Torch (as a worse example). This way it becomes a bit of a pop quiz where the player uses their knowledge of DC (or cross-company?) trivia to fight more effectively.

FF Tower Defence. Heroes cannot stray too far from the portal that created them. The parademons move slowly, so you're trying to take them efficiently but paying attention to their pathing.

thank you for helping solidify my idea! based on that i've thought about it and realized how i have to do it.
there are three types of 'towers'. house of mutants, house of science, and house of magic. mutant trumps science trumps magic trumps mutants.
how can i limit the range of the summoned?
i think i will set dreamer up with the batterie attribute, and each custom tower costs energy.

You could use Lightray or Fastback and do a race mission like the one you thought about earlier.

If it hadn't been cancelled at #25 Walt Simonson said he was going to do a story that showed Orion's true form. Also he was to meet some of the old gods. Maybe those ideas could help? If not maybe fighting some unusual enemies like demons or some of the DCU aliens.
