Title: Disembodied hands
Post by: detourne_me on August 20, 2015, 03:07:47 AM
This is a bit of an odd request, but I am looking for some disembodied hands, that are still rigged for male_basic.
For example, I can get gloves from Ren's Captain America, or Vertex's Doctor Fate, but I would prefer to have just hands.  has anyone seen something like this before?

It would be easy enough to create/edit. Did you want hands cut off at the wrist or leave some wrist and forearm to alpha out to give a ghostly appearance?

Right at the wrists would be the best. I think.
I guess using nifskope to erase triangles on Doctor Fate's gloves would work, right?

I just thought that maybe tommy boy or vertex had some separate hand pieces, like they've had separate head pieces in the past.

I might get called away to work today (it's raining outside and the doctor might call me off work for a week, dunno) so if no one gets to it I will. Like hoss said it's a snap.

- Open male basic in Blender or whatever.
- delete all vertices stopping at the row just before the wrists.
- Merge/weld (hotkey Alt+M) the row above the wrists into one vertice, doing one side first and then the other of course. This is so there won't be a hole.
- Move the moved vertices down towards the wrist so there won't be an unnatural looking point jutting out.
- Unhide anything if need be, highlight everything so Blender knows to export it all, export the nif and your good to go.
- Adjust any lighting values, alpha channels and stencil masks (0 in all fields for this one) that Blender may have changed in Nifskope.

I ended up taking a crack at this too. It seemed like a nice addition to my Workbench page so it's up there. Thanks as well, you reminded me of some bodies I wanted to make and a tutorial that I forgot about.

I also did a set of bodiless mailed gauntlets (a lllooonnnggg time ago) on an alpha-enabled mesh. They are called Guided Muscles.
