Title: Uncoupling Skope Section Textures
Post by: BentonGrey on July 05, 2022, 05:25:33 AM
Howdy folks, is there any way to disconnect pieces of a mesh that share the same texture, so that you can assign different textures to different pieces?  I'm skoping a map, and all of the ground sections use the same texture.  Whenever I edit the texture name on one, it changes them on all of the pieces.  Is there something in the settings that will let me split a piece off?  I want to add grass to one section of the nif.

wouldn't you have to edit the texture mapping?

Hey Style!  Well, you'd probably know better than I would, but do you mean the UV map?  That just controls where on the texture it looks for its image, right?  If I'm changing the texture itself, I'm beyond that step, right?

I don't work with map.nif much but for anything else what I do is copy the piece/node, past it back into where it should go and what will happen is Nifskope will create it's own numbered texture assignment. So just example, piece is assigned to Taskmaster_Extras.tga and that has the value of 195, Nifskope will create a second instance that is also renumbered with just that copied and pasted piece only pointing to it. So now there will be second Taskmaster_Extras.tga but it will be numbered 295 for example. Right there you change the texture assignment name. The new piece will now point at the new texture name and value while the old ones will point at the old assignment and name. Naturally delete the old copy (delete branch) or assign it to the new textures then delete the new copy (the old will save the new texture and values).

Speaking of current conversations I went to the city to a Walmart and they had classic, like straight from the 80's and 90's packaging even Ninja Turtles, MOTU and Transformers toys. I felt like I was in grade school again.

I've seen the MoTU figures, but I hadn't seen the others; cool!  Yeah, it's nostalgia city when I see those.

Jitsu, Fisto and Evil-Lynn were on the rack. And I mean same figure, same box and same little comic book. And of course I thought to myself how fascinating to see the Evil Lynn considering how hard that one was to come across in it's day. Oh and Battle Cat was on the shelf below the pegs. I just stood there staring at this like I fool.
