Any tutorials/instructions out yonder on setting up in-game music?

John Jr.

1-Create a folder inside the "Sounds" folder (if you don't have a Sounds folder create one first). The path would be something like:
C:\Freedom Force vs The 3rd Reich\ffx3_Mappack\Sounds\musak
2- Put the mp3 files you need inside the "Musak" folder
3- Open FFEdit and go to the "Resources" tab
4- Copy an existing music and rename it.
5- In the "Source" box you should input the path to the mp3 file you want.
That's the only way I know.
Hope it helps.

That should work if you are creating a mod and calling your own music to play via mission script. To replace the existing music in the default gameyou would either need to change that paths for default music in the resources tab to new MP3 files, or else name the new MP3 file the same name as the music file you want to replace.

Is there one selection that controls the music in any mission, no matter what? Or is it per mission only? I see that music_ingame is the beginning screen music...or so it appears...ff00_metagame. I'll look @ DI & see how he has that "Hommage" mp3 set up for his in-game music in the meantime.

I see music_metagame & music_ingame as the only things that appear close to a default in-game music kind of entry. JJ has me pegged right...I'm playing the ffx3_Mappack mod & just want some music in the background. I saw where the DI mod had music_hommage pointed to Hommage.mp3, but there must be a dat file that references music_hommage as actually being an in-game music for a specific mission.

No, that music is called via python code... and yet I don't remember that file... and I'm still wondering why people willingly play that mod. Someone should update it and add those missing missions like said person did to Crisis.

I concur, Sir Prev of Isionary  :)     I just remembered that DI for FFV3R & Great Hunt for FF are the only games where I've heard in-game music, so I figured I'd concentrate my research on DI, since I'm playing the Mappack mod.

For  :ff:, I once used a music file as a custom-created ambient sound that looped and placed it on one of my maps...I got it to work, but I have no idea if it can be done in  :ffvstr:, I have yet to try it.

Just tried it & that works for  :ffvstr: - Only plays when close to ambient marker & had to turn the volume way up to hear it

Hi E,

Did you make it a global sound or a local sound?....Sounds like it's set to be a local sound.

Yep I did have it on local 3D sound & worked great when I changed it - Thow I just about blew up my speakers because I had the volume turned up to 20 on one sound file  :o - It's actually cool to know that I can make new ambient sounds for certain parts of the stage or just play threw the whole map - Thanks for the tips
