Create Render error in FFvTTR?

Has anyone ever had 'alert:Create Renderer, Directx creation failed: No matching full screen mode available' pop up when they tried an XP install of FFvTTR? This is my first time playing it on this specific computer, but it ran fine on a different XP a while back. Any thoughts?
