Laptop Questions

Hi there. Recently, the cord for my Tobisha Laptop died. Now, as it turns out, Tobisha's products are known for going bad, like the Xbox 360. So I've decided to not buy cords over and over again, and instead get a new laptop, not to mention my laptop is a bit old. So what I'm asking here is if any of you know of any good, up-to-date laptops at fairly reasonable prices. Oh, and there are ones with up-to-date memory cards, right? I don't want to have buy one separately. (More cash.) And what are the general specs for an up-to-date laptop? Thanks.
