Okay, people, I was approved by admin and so I will start my first thread.

I've played FFvTR years ago, on my own language (Russian). I loved the game (Entropy is awesome girl, you know! She has cool minions and so on... she is kinda pretty, as I remember), but eventually I stopped playing it. I couldn't find original FF in Russia, unfortunately. Now, though, I grew older and became aware of torrents. I used them to download english version of original Freedom Force, and started to play it once more.

English Freedom Force voice is better than Russian one, for me. Especially Nuclear Winter.

So, I have some questions:
* Where can I start making mods?
* What game, FFvTR or original FF, is more often used for mods?
* How Nuclear Winter gained an army of frostgun-armed soldiers? Did he just said to USSR's goverment: "Товарищ Хрущев, вышлите, пожалуйста, полк солдат с лучами поноса, ядерными пушками и тупым символом на шапке в Америку!"
* What a guy is better for a future mod - a reskinned Sukhov with lava skin or a reskinned Ice Soldier with a frosty body (or volcanic)?
* WTF is Deja Vu? He's funny but how he mades clones?
* WTF is this purple thing at the end of FFvTR?

Okay, that's all.

First, welcome aboard. :)

ObNote: We don't talk about torrents or pirated/cracked software on the board. I don't know if it's available everywhere, but both FF and FFvT3R are sold for legitimate download on Steam (individually and as a package).

Quote* Where can I start making mods?
Mod-making covers many aspects of adding content to the game. Some people work on new skins and meshes. Some work on new scripted features (e.g. new powers and attributes as in FFX). Some work on new voice packs, FX, etc. And, some work on new campaigns (full stories) for the game. You might want to check out Previsionary's Comprehensive List of Tutorials for some links on getting started in many different areas.

I don't know which game has more mods at this point. With the wide availability of both games through Steam (so that it's not hard to find FF anymore), there have been mods released for both. You should pick which one you like more as far as the game play, availability of powers, etc. I would note that a very useful resource when creating campaigns for the games is FFX3 for FFvT3R and FFX2 for FF. Both are quite good (I say that as a fan, though I helped a bit with FFX 3), though FFvT3R gave us a few more scripting tools, so there are more features in the version for the newer game.

Haha. I'm not too sure about the intestinal impact of those ray guns, but that may have been roughly what he said. I think the game rationalization is that he was a fairly high-ranking official who had access to military personnel, whether his superiors were supposed to know that he mutated some of them or ran his own operation is debatable. Maybe he had loyalists who were willing to work outside official channels? We weren't given any info about Zukhov other than that he was a "handler" for some spies, not necessarily that he had any useful scientific or technical ability. But, when he underwent his energy-X transformation he suddenly had a cache of ice-based weaponry for his minions. Not necessarily all that sensible, but not an uncommon logical leap in comics from the 1960's.

No idea which character to re-skin. I'd say do whichever one you have a better story idea for.

Quote* WTF is Deja Vu? He's funny but how he mades clones?
Deja Vu is from the future, where presumably cloning technology is either more common or it's a special technology he has developed.

Quote* WTF is this purple thing at the end of FFvTR?
It is the embodiment of Energy X itself. Beyond that, we don't know. It has always seemed like a good area for exploration for a mod-maker, but I am not sure if anyone has tried it. I would be a little surprised if someone hasn't created a skin for that character, though you might want to check the Requests for Skins & Meshes board to see.

Have fun.
