For those of you with long memories.. or the willingness to dig thru the FR archives, I am having a sense of deja vu with shock and sadness dumped on top of it all...

My wife ended up in this hospital on Sunday night when she felt faint and decided to have me call an ambulance as soon as I got her inside and sitting down on a comfy chair. Seems that she had blood clots that reformed in her lungs and had been since she was taken off cumadin by her doctor about six months ago when they cleared her after her regular lung scan after the huge pulmonary embolism she had a few years ago. She had a filter put near her heart to prevent further problems as well but it seems that family genetics worked against her because she has a natural tendency to clot which caused new ones to form after the filter and thus allowed them to still remain a danger after all.

I got news that four lobes of her lungs were filled with blood clots and that once again she escaped death by pure luck of knowing to look for the signs before things got horribly worse. They said her lung capacity was reduced to like 50% of what is should have been and a huge clot in her leg was forming that would have probably ended up like the one that was saddled between both lungs that nearly killed her last time. I'm starting to think she might need to start playing the lottery more or has picked up an uncanny luck from thumbing through my Longshot comics.

Sitting in her hospital room is getting old but she should be getting released within the next day or so.. but probably will be getting stuck doing self-injections of this major blood thinner to finish breaking up the remaining clots.

I tell ya it never seems to end with stuff that keeps me busy and away from my voice packs/skoping plans that I have.

Family always takes priority over mods. I pray for her that she will be ok.

I wish you and your family well, CQ, and I'll make sure to keep you all in my thoughts and prayers.

Oh man CQ, that was seriously a close one. You and your wife will be in my thoughts. Good luck, buddy.

My goodness CQ!  I'm sorry man, but thank God that y'all caught it in time!  We'll definitely keep your family in our prayers.  I wish her a speedy, and a good deal more permanent, recovery.

I'm sorry to hear your wife has to undergo this health issue again, but I'm very happy to hear that it was diagnosed in a timely fashion.

I'm glad to hear your wife is doing well!  My best wishes to you all.

If I can get doctory for a moment.  Your wife should now be on Coumadin for life (obviously).  Also, did she get a "hypercoaguability" work up after her last episode?  One doesn't necessarily get one after the first DVT/PE, but she really must get one now.

Hope she got well soon, CQ. Thank God it was diagnosed in time.

That sounds pretty nasty, but at the same time it seems like you've got everything in hand  - and I'd like to join in and wish your wife a full recovery CQ.

Just a brief update folks...

My wife has been home resting now and doing quite well despite being on quite a few medications and having to give herself shots. Needless to say that while she had summer plans for a vacation this wasn't exactly what she had in mind for the family. So it has been adding to the stress levels instead of releasing them but we hope to spend a quiet week somewhere in a small hotel with a rather big indoor pool once she feels up to it.

Lots more appointments to go though with her regular doctor and follow ups to make sure that the remaining clots are fully gone.

Thanks for all the good wishes and prayers during this time. :-)

Yeah, she had that work up done this time.. not sure if she did last time it happened but thanks to Kaiser Perm bouncing her between so many doctors because her regular doctor is on vacation I'm thinking she is tired of reexplaining everything over and over and having more batches of tests being ordered.
