The date of 2002 at the top is the release date of the first game (it confused me too).
The article is from June of 2009 if you go to the first page.

Irregardless its really the same basic statements they have been making for the last couple of years. Kinid of like the way Dan Ackroyd keeps talking about Ghostbusters 3. I think they would really like to revisit the franchise at some point, but its entirely dependent on whether they feel there is a market for it.

Edit:Dangit Goggles!

You're both off... the article is over a year old (June 26, 2009). Cat just got confused by the release date up at the top, which refers to when FF came out.

Either way, tis an old article. Much as we'd love to see a FF3, at this point I'd be surprised if it happened. Still, there might be some hope... as big as Superheroes are ATM, the market would be good for it, it's just a matter of how much effort they're willing to put in.

There actually was an article very much like this several years ago.  That's why I glanced at what I thought was the article date and never gave it much further thought.

In fact, there have been several.  Nothing has come of them.

This article was actually posted here a few months ago. I'm pretty sure you responded to it, Cat, which is probably another reason you wrote it off. We've already reacted to this news, so this is doing nothing for us. :P
Disappear when you least expe--

I probably did.  I've responded to several in fact and can no longer keep them all straight.  My apologies for that.

That may be, Prev; however, I am convinced our other efforts will bear sweet fruit.  For instance, the vigil we hold in Boston on the evening of January 8 each year, awaiting the arrival of The Great Man-Botkin, who rises out of the scrap yard each year and flies around the world, bringing complimentary copies of Freedom Force to all the good boys and girls.  'Tis believed (on good authority) that, one day, The Great Man-Botkin will deliver the next sequel to the game to all the faithful who keep their vigil in the most sincere scrap yard each and every year.  I'll never forget the year that Billdamn, Ephemeris, lugaru, Midnight, Sword, and I kept each other company, singing songs and swapping dreams about what The Great Man-Botkin might look like and how truly sincere our scrap yard was.  Ah, those were good times ... 'Tis true we did not spy The Great Man-Botkin that year, and those lads won't return my calls anymore--and I suspect that, when they laugh at me as I pass them in the halls of FR, they don't necessarily hold me in the highest esteem--nevertheless, I firmly believe that we will one day see The Great Man-Botkin deliver to us that most blessed of gifts: the next Freedom Force^_^

Ow, you know you have as much chance of seeing this happens as of winning a baseball game this year. (OK, that was a... blanket statement) :P
