FFVT3R exe showing up as a virus?

Has anyone else had this problem. I found my exe file was missing for the 2nd time in 2 days and when I checked my Avast anti virus log I discovered the virus I had moved to chest(recommended action) was the exe file. It says file name ffvt3r.exe>{Emui}>{Embedded_#6836b4}>{Petite}
severity low
Status PUP:Win32:PUP-gen{PUP}

The file name may be a little off as the writing is really small and there may be some sort of small vertical line before the >'s. Is this a false report? Checking my scan logs this has happened the last two weeks.

Thanks for any help.

If you haven't changed your FF install, recently, indeed, it's probably a false positive. There are probably a couple of sites where you can upload the file to check t through different virus scanners. If every scanner except one or two indicates that the file is clean, you could submit the bug report to Avast.

Thanks for the idea about on line scanners.I just went to one(after I reinstalled for the second time) scanned just my FFVT3R folder and it found nothing. So that makes it even more likely a false positive, right?

Epimethee

Right. You could probably send the .exe to Avast with your report. Most AV companies would either confirm that there is a virus or not and, if need be, update their virus scanners when presented with false positives.

Well you see the results come up and I get options of what to do. Repair, delete, ignore, move to chest. I don't see any way to send a report to Avast.

If these is a contact option, it's going to be on their site, maybe via a forum.
