eh that's not true, exactly. The avatars I put in the title screen were more or less what I had on my comp, not a preview of who is showing up... heck, Volt and Randy aren't even there. So just because you aren't there doesn't mean you won't be in the story.

See, this isn't a forum mod, at least not traditionally. This is about my characters, but it's set in my interpretation of the "Freedom Reborn" universe. For example, the second level features the Gamma Patrol... except in my world, it's made up of guys like Afghan Ant, Ink, etc. as opposed to Hans, Zeigel, and that whole crew.

The reason the first level has so many avatars is because it's meant to introduce the world. Beyond that, it's mainly just cameo appearances.

Meh... much as I would wish it DJ, you probably won't make an appearance... FF limits the number of playables, so I had to limit the ef members I used. Gamma Patrol doesn't really even get shown... it's heavily alluded to, but the only one to appear is AA.

If I could, I'd throw in cameos for everyone. It's just a matter of doing it tastefully, and not interferring with the story.

Edit: Since I'm at a bit of a standstill (unfortunately I need 5 new skins for episode 1... to put that in perspective, I have 4 skins to do for the rest of the chapter... I've got AA helping out, but it's still a hassle.) I'm going to go Ahead and post the episode titles:

My only quirk (which I'm sure you've already justified) is if Afghan Ant is the only appearing member of a european-themed group, isn't he a bit misplaced? I'm sure I remember reading he's from somewhere in Australia. But as I said, I have no idea what the script you've cooked up reads like.

If its skins that you're struggling with and not models, can you not piece together the mod with temporary skins and evade the standstill?

I don't want to go too in-depth to it, but it had to specifically be AA for a number of reasons. And as I said before, this is my rendition of the Gamma Patrol too... in the Influx world, it acts as sort of the Justice League or Avengers for the universe.

As far as the standstill, that's what I'm more or less doing for now while I work on herofiles (I'm doing one skin first, but that's because I didn't feel like doing a placeholder and then reskinning it), but I still have to get them done before the episode can be released anyway.

It just really kills me because I did a rundown of what all I'd need for the rest of the chapter... I need 2 characters in civies, and 2 skins for the final villain character, and that's it. And right now I am rocking the one of the hardest burnouts ever, so right now skin progress has me sitting down, doing 5 minutes of work, and then getting frustrated and giving it up for the day.

Not exactly... the main image is just a compilation of avatars I had on hand... it was mainly stressing that this takes place in the "Freedom Reborn" Universe, and as such, there are likely to be hidden (and not so hidden) cameos from lots of FR members.

Because the team doesn't even form until the last episode, I'm choosing not to involve any other FR cameos beyond the plot-centric ones in episodes 1 and 2. That will change in later chapters... If I can shoehorn a cameo into the game, I will. That said, I do have plans for certain avs to have a larger role in the story, not just a cameo.

Sadly, however, Murs will probably never see the light of day... trying to keep this mod at at least a T rating.

So, some of you probably saw my explosion over in the meshing thread already... I kinda overreacted (especially on poor herodad  ) but I've gotten some PMs and such that were both selfish and disrespectful with regards to getting avatars in the mod. At least for now, I don't want to see anyone pushing their own avatar... the ones I'm using for the first chapter are set, and I'll hold off on making any concrete decisions about cameos in later chapters until I get a few levels under my belt.

That said... my main irritation is just with people pushing their own stuff down my throat, not with the community as a whole. The main reason I want to include cameos and such is because I love the community. If anyone has any ideas for levels and things that would involve non-self avatars, I'd love to hear them (keep in mind though, it's still part of the Influx mod... ). Even if I don't use the idea itself, proving you can use knowledge about someone else's characters to make something interesting says a lot.

Guys... I'm not blaming anyone, except maybe myself. I've been getting PMs like this since I started announcing the mod, and instead of saying something earlier I let it all build up until I ended up blowing my lid over it. The whole situation should have been dealt with better, and I sincerely apologize for that.

That said... right now I have yet to write a single line of code. I've got at least 2 more skins to do for the first level, I've got to go in and tweak the heck out of my hero files so things are properly balanced when it comes time to actually play, and I need to finish actual scripts for episodes 2-5 (not to mention getting some VPs together). It is WAY too dang early to be plotting out cameos, and constantly getting PMs about it is incredibly distracting.
